The energy efficiency at maximum cruising speed is surprisingly good, so an owner could drive fast to any destination within range. The slow charging rate is the limiting factor for sales of this affordable BEV. Thanks for filming the test and sharing. The real world fuel consumption of a fossil car at high speed is really bad, so this result is attractive to potential customers of the e-Up.

Daytime Running Lights are designed to be visible in daytime, normal lights are designed to lightup the road, not to be visible in good light conditions. You might be less visible when you 'turn on the lights to be visible'.

Very nice little car for city traffic and (short) stretches of highway. The only downside for me is the support of the front seats. Standard camping chairs offer more comfort than these "boards with raised edges". But it drives really good, even in eco-mode.

It's funny how whole good old Mitteleuropa looks the same. This could have been continental Croatia, were it not for town names :o) (Except for the Alps, but then they look the same in any of the countries that share them). The freeway is way more patched than I remember when I used the great Autobahn system the last time... Well, the time takes its toll. BTW, this turned out to be a pretty thirsty little car. You seem to really enjoy this. Keep good work!

Thanks again for a good video! The little e-up never stops to surprise! It would’ve been interesting to see the charging speed after such fast driving. Do you remember what you got (kW)?

It was not too warm outside, so the same as in the charging test I filmed.

@@BatteryLife Ok, that’s impressive, but driving more stretches like this would probably show lower speeds in the end. Or what do you think 🙂?

Do you have any inside info about VW software issues with Meb plattform ? Ford Mustang Mach-e can get it to work and why not team with them when Ford autonomous system will be in there Bev. VW Meb same as Id 4 are used for Mustang Mach-e.

When the battery is fully charged / nearly charged, then the regenerated energy doesn't have anywhere to go, so to speak. Electric cars RULE!
@BatteryLife
@BatteryLife 4 жыл бұрын
It does in good cars ;) they have a buffer on top.
@NeilBlanchard
@NeilBlanchard 4 жыл бұрын
@@BatteryLife In a few it is done this way by default, but only when the pack is really big. In our Chevy Bolt EV, it is an option, called Hilltop Start. But, in many cars the pack is already not huge, so you need to be able to use it all for as much range as possible.

eUp has a buffer. Feels great. Nissan Leaf and Model S didn't have any regen at 100%
@NeilBlanchard
@NeilBlanchard 4 жыл бұрын
@@BatteryLife I wonder why it didn't seem to have "full" regen until it had used some of the charge?

Why are they pushing electric cars and not hydrogen ones? If hydrogen is made from renewables it is equally green and doesn't have any of the electric car cons.
@BatteryLife

True. But infrastucture takes a while. Until then BEVs.
@RichardBrown-un8co

Because a hydrogen cell is only about 45% efficient compared to an electric motor which is about 90%. Also charging a battery with green electricity is far more efficient than using it to make hydrogen. Plus you have to compress the hydrogen for storage.

burn ... you must pay more taxes if you burn something and produce polutions like CO2 .... beyond 80 it gets pretty loud compared to e-Golf cause it is at least 1 class below the GOLF ... same for power and top speed where the e-Golf runs 155 km/h and is still pretty quiet. It is more a grown up midsize car than a compact or small car which you recocnize while cornering or copple stone street or driving on a boardwalk and of cause on highway traffic I also thought that using the brakes the e-Golf regens at max. first before brakes kick in but I have to check that next time when I will be leaving the highway and can press the brake pedal down increasingly and observe the regeneration amount.

I decided to order the e-Up and not the e-Golf. I think the golf is a great car. It was a hard decision. Finally I preferred to buy the cheaper and more efficient car, as it seems to provide enough car to me. Every kWh counts. The more comfort in e-Golf comes with almost 400kg additional weight. If it turns out that I miss to much, I will change the e-Up for a different car in a few years. The e-Corsa attracted me much as well.
