Battle Between 1st & 2nd Generation Seiko MM200 Prospex Divers

In the battle between the Seiko SBDC061, first-generation, & SBDC125, the second generation, which MM200 Prospex Diver wins and would be my everyday watch?

I have the 61 and use it as a tool watch pur sung. The lume is juist the best you can get on a watch, working in nichtshifts offshore its almost lifesaving.......

Same here. I use it mainly for outdoor work/activities. If I wanna be fancy I’ll wear my SM 6200 vintage xD

Lume is a deal breaker for me. I am enjoying the lume on my 2nd gen Sumo and would not like to downgrade, so the 061 for me is the best choice.

Great information. Without your insight I would have thought that the case and bracelets were the same. Its also surprising that the larger 061 is the one that wears more comfortably.

I decided to go for the 061 instead of the new version and I haven't regretted that at all. Since I wanted a watch with a black dial and a black bezel insert I had to go for the older version.

Nice video! I love my 061 and just wasn’t crazy about the handset so I got the mm300 hand set with the mm300 crafter blue CB03 with the nice Crafter blue clasp and it’s perfection

Though I’ve not experienced either, I’d pick the second gen. It appeals to me greatly. Since I already have 2 divers with steel bezels and blue dials, I’d like to see a blue on blue in the second gen even though I’d be very tempted to pick up the steel and black if a great deal came my way. Must fight the urge though as I swore that the black Captain Willard was my last Seiko. Seikoholic for life.

I'd would need to buy both. also saw when looking these up there is a blue version second generation. Maybe all 3 and be done buying for the summer.

Think 061 for me Jeff, but I much prefer the 051. The 051 indices are really special with the domed sapphire. I find more comfort with a nice quality leather strap, to reduce the weight for everyday wear, plus the crown doesn't dig in on leather .it's time seiko started doing on the fly adjustable bracelets for the hot summer days.

First I thought Gen 2 ... then I got an SBDX017 and learned about the history of the 6159-7000 that those watches mirror. Now I am thinking about getting an SBDC061 or 063 and put some aftermarket 6159-7000 handsets on it.

Keep the 061, sell the 125 and get the MM300. I like the 125 but it just feels like a smaller, watered down version of the MM300 to me. Really like the SeikoSPB143. Hope to pick one up soon. You should try one too.

Got a gilt turtle and a padi mini turtle. I don't need a more expensive. But I am still looking at those mm200. I don't need it I confirm but still so nice.

I want to like the 125. Bezel is too wide. Case is too blocky. Puff printed lume instead of filled markers. Power reserve doesn't interest me. I do like the hands better on the 125, but not enough.

Luv em both is the 125 as thick as the mm 300

The 125 is 12mm thick. The MM300 is 15.4mm thick. Big flopper on the wrist.

Gen 2 has a better case shape and much better hands but it's too small. Gen 1 looks more classy and it's bigger.

What are your thoughts on the 065 comfort vs the sumo? When I had a sumo I could wear it all day without any discomfort.

Equal comfort but 065 has overall better build quality and lume is better than current gen Sumo.
