As someone who was living there (between Bucha and Borodyanka) up until the 25th Feb, this is a tough watch. My in-laws (wife's parents and brother and his family) had apartments in Irpin and a house in Hostomel. They literally had to drive through a battle to get to our house. I took my wife and kids (son was less than 3 weeks old) out of there and we went to Poland....eventually. The in-laws stayed in our house in darkness and silence for two weeks, surrounded by murdering russians. Finally the russians were pushed out by the far superior fighting spirit of soldiers of the Ukraine Armed forces, and they were able to escape. Our story is nothing compared to all those who have lost so much more.

While all authoritative neutral sources say that Russia has at least 25% more of them than Ukraine. But in fact, it doesn’t matter how many died on which side: it only matters for Russia, because the war is unpopular among ordinary people in their society, especially in large cities, especially in Moscow. That First pilot, then the ones who followed, the amunt of armor driving into the Chernobyl exclusion zone.... @revcor6324 ай бұрын
I think people will need to come to grips with none of those questions having satisfying answers in most situations. The average person around the world has never had, and never will have, any role in "stopping it." I think stuff like twitter wielding undue influence on events at times is probably responsible for this belief or expectation that people can and should be able to influence events anywhere in the world, regardless of any actual connection to an event, just because they want to. It's a fairly wild notion-the idea that some collection of people have the power to stop armies on the opposite side of the world. The only people who can stop it are the ones actually involved in it, and that is the nature of most things. We are nothing more than observers
