IMPORTANT UPDATE! There is a mistake at 23:52. Bold numbers in square brackets are actually Ukraine's demands. Italics numbers in round brackets are Russia's demands. Thanks to all commenters who pointed that out. As well, the battle for Moschun involved battles for Horenka, a town 5km to the south which is mistakenly labeled as Moschun at 7:20. Sorry for that, I will try to be more careful next time. Hope you still enjoyed the video, though!

Fantastic presentation! If I could offer one suggestion, sometimes it's hard to make out which units are Ukrainian and which are Russian on the map, because you're only using unit patches and not flags or separate colours for them. It would be helpful if you added some extra visual element to them to make their affiliation stand out better.
@jessehachey2732 Жыл бұрын
In the first 15 seconds, all units were listed, and each unit badge has a little circle with either a Ukrainian flag, or the Russian one…
@Pyrrhic. Жыл бұрын
@@jessehachey2732 you want to use unit symbols; then you’ll need to draw out battle lines to show Ukraine and Russia controls what space (like eastory). If you want to just use national flags to represent units, you can do that (like Kings and General). So yeah while what you say it true, it is hard to spot sometimes when there are a lot of markers on the map and some of us watch this on a smartphone that isn’t a large screen phone.

I find the battles around Kyiv extremely interesting. At least for me personally, there initially was just too much confusion around things to understand what was happening. I especially like how you combine the animations with actual footage: Unit movement on the map is great, but the videos help get you a much better impression of the situation. So does explaining the "micro" side of some battles occasionaly.

During the battle for Makariv in mid-march, I remember the moment when russians began to retreat in large groups, but one bmp3 rushed at us while a russian lieutenant (as we later found out) was waving flag of the USSR on top of it. We damaged the armor with the help of Corsar, and guys from Kord shot this lieutenant in his balls, after which he fell and bmp crushed him trying to turn back. We laughed so hard that the last russians who were about a hundred meters away from us abandoned their positions and fled. It's scary to think how war depersonalizes people and forces them to kill without regret, but there is simply no time for reflection when your life is in danger. I wish all this didn't happen and we could all be better people. But unfortunately, ordinary russians did not realize anything from the events around Kyiv, and instead of abandoning the fantasies of their fuhrer, they decided to avenge their losses, not thinking about how and why they died.

When I see how the Battle of Kyiv and the rest of the conflict have played out, I can't help but draw parallels between this conflict and the Chechen wars, particularly the Battle of Grozny, which according to wikipedia proceeded as thus: "The initial assault resulted in considerable Russian casualties and demoralization in the Russian forces. It took another two months of heavy fighting, and a change in tactics, before the Russian Army was able to capture Grozny. The battle caused enormous destruction and casualties amongst the civilian population and saw the heaviest bombing campaign in Europe since the end of World War II." Seem familiar? It seems the Russian military and government always approach their fights with a sense of overconfidence, massively underestimating the resolve of their foe, get slaughtered, and then come back and just bombard the shit out of them until they just grind their enemy down. Let's take stock of what the Russians gained in Chechnya and what they stand to gain from the current war: Chechnya: -An impoverished blotch of land in the Caucasus bordering Georgia with an embittered Muslim population who still remember what was done to them. People forget that that turd Kadyrov's main job when he and his huge band of heavily armed thugs is not aiding in invading Ukraine is to oppress his own people at Moscow's behest. Charming fellow. Ukraine: -They get access to Crimea's port and the large industrial regions mineral deposits in the Donbass region and the other territories they have seized. Not too shabby. Also, they also still have the few hundred thousand Ukrainian children they kidnapped and gave to Russian families to help shore-up their piss-poor demographics that will screw them in the long run. So definitely a bigger win than Chechnya. -Combat experience for their (surviving) troops. Now let's see at the costs have been: Chechnya: -A few thousand troops, a couple of cities razed and tens of thousands of dead Chechen civilians. Also a few hundred Russian civilians from the terror attacks launched by hardline Chechen terrorists. All in a day's work for the Russian government. I suppose we should be grateful it isn't Holodomor levels of genocide. How generous of them. Ukraine: -Massive economic sanctions that have largely cut them off from the world's high-tech sectors and the mass seizure of Russian oligarch's overseas money and assets. These sanctions, while not particularly effective in the short term, will definitely have an effect down the line, especially if they are kept in place for the next few years. -Tens of thousands of dead and wounded soldiers, a huge number of which have been their best and most well-equipped troops, along with their main geostrategic rivals getting masses of intel on the (in)capabilities of the Russian military. -Sweden and Finland joining Nato, massively extending the Russia's shared border with hostile nation states -Massive rearmament of Western Europe with the latest murder toys the American and European military industrial complexes can shit out. -Becoming economically dependent on the People's Republic of China. I'm sure the CCP is a fair and considerate trading partner.

You might want to look up the Ryazin incident regarding the Moscow bombings. It's still not clear who really carried them out. As for what they gained, it has been claimed that Russian leaders are seeking to expand until they reach defensible barriers. The Caucasus mountains are one such barriers.

Guys in Vukovar, neighbors, friends, coworkers, farmers resisted tousands and tousands of professional soldiers with tanks for months giving time to the rest of Croatia to dig in and brace for impact. Just like Mariupol... We have prevailed, Ukraine will prevail. 🇭🇷❤️🇺🇦
