The banter between Obiwan and Asajj Ventris got weird fast and only got weirder with time. It makes you wonder who it was in the creative team who decided to go with an aggressive combat flirting approach to their lightsabre duels. You begin to get the uncomfortable feeling that one of these days, Anakin and Ashoka would rush to the rescue of Obiwan after he is last seen duelling Ventris, only to walk in on something rather unlike any normally recognised form of Lightsabre technique. Something that would probably emotionally scar the young Padawan for life... Obiwan - much more of a player than one would expect from a member of a nominally celibate order.

Yeah this is one of the cases where TCW takes something from an existing source and incorporates it into itself without properly explaining it within itself,the Ventress flirting with her opponents thing comes from the Dark horse clone Wars comics where she does it when she fights obi wan but in that comic series it's established as a thing she does to throw off her opponents which made sense considering she was trained by Dooku the master of using psychological warfare to manipulate his opponents, but TCW doesn't explain this properly within its own context so it ends up being a little weird

Usually you go so in depth, I was surprised just to see a summary of the movie. The battle was very interesting from the clones' perspective. They thought they had been left to die holding back the droids so the Jedi could escape with the Hutt, so they fortified the interior of the castle with traps and fought against the droids until they were all dead or wounded. Considering that the new republic only wants control of the hyperspace lanes (and not to destroy the Hutts so an all out war with them is pointless) and the fact that the Hutts' biggest warship, the DP20 is less powerful than an Arquitens light cruiser (not to mention their 2.0 class hyperdrive, which is far slower than the 1.0 or less of the Republic ships) the Republic could just ignore the Hutts. Since they had far less powerful and slower ships and no interdiction technology I don't see any reason why the Hutts had control over those hyperlanes other than "because they said so". (Also thanks for the reply :)
@TexanFlyingDino5 жыл бұрын
@@crazeelazee7524 They are Pirates, they wouldn't dare be caught in a open battle with anyone. They would just hide and raid the supply routes and such. So if either side was to just attack them straight on then they would have to leave dedicated forces in the Hutt Space area to do nothing but guard the supply routes and considering that the Republic was very outnumbered by the CIS in the first place, having to leave dedicated fleets to guard your ass would be alot more time consuming and annoying than just doing what they did. So in reality it was a smart move to just try and get permission from the Hutts rather than fight them.
@gregorygreenwood-nimmo49545 жыл бұрын
Anakin's total failure to grasp the basics of battlefield tactics for non-Force sensitive soldiers was always difficult to ignore in Star Wars, both the movies and the Clone Wars series, but it is not as though he was all that different from other Jedi in that regard, as Allen observes. Given what atrocious commanders most of the Jedi seem to have been, and how many countless Clones died as a direct consequence of the peculiar Jedi combination of military incompetence and arrogance such that they won't delegate command to Clone officers or other dedicated military personnel who actually know what they are doing, it sometimes seems that the only reason Order 66 came to pass as it did was because of the Clone's conditioning making them unquestioningly loyal in most instances. If it wasn't for that contingency, it would hardly have been a shock if, when Palpatine came to issue Order 66, he was told that the Clones had already had enough, snapped, and offed all the Jedi commanders in wide spread mutinies. Of course, that would have infuriated Palpatine - the guy was melodramatic down to his bone marrow, and would have been furious that the Clones stepped on his big evil reveal moment. Frankly, he would have been much happier playing scenery-chewing villains in holovid dramas than he would ever have been ruling the Empire. Ah, the path not trodden...
@gregorygreenwood-nimmo49545 жыл бұрын
@@NightRaven-lh1bf Now that would be a comedy Star Wars spin off we could all get behind. Having survived his seeming death in the destruction of the second Death Star, Palpatine abandons his plans for Galactic domination to pursue his true dream - a life treading the holovid boards as the greatest thespian in a galaxy a long time ago, and far, far away... At least that is what he thinks. Exasperated directors, a despairing manager, and several very angry female leads would all disagree...

You give Anakin a lot of flak for his strategy, but there are problems with conducting an air assault like you suggest. They were already taking fire from the monastery in the gunships, and it’s possible they could’ve taken an equal amount, if not more casualties. Then, when the gunships are actually dropping the troopers off, they are vulnerable, especially since the droids would be surrounding their landing positions. So again, it’s likely they would’ve taken a similar amount of casualties conducting an aerial assault. In summary, in my opinion neither approach was the greatest of ideas.
@timedraven1175 жыл бұрын
I always presumed they didn't land their dropships on the Monastery itself because the Droids had very heavy flak to stop just that, you know, all those dwarf spider droids shooting at the drop ships on their approach! What you're saying is they should do exactly what the Jedi tried to do in the Second Battle for Geonosis. Stay Consistent Generation Tech! YOu can at least rag on Anakin for being impatient and not spending days whittling away the Separatist forces from range and ambush instead of blatantly lying about why didn't he just land on the small monastery filled with anti aircraft weaponry.

wait but the droids that were defending the monastary from the clones had at least some at least half decent defenses against the incoming LAATs, in the form of dozens of spider droids. the clones however, had one tank left and a squad of troopers armed with blasters. they couldn't exactly produce the same ammount of flak the droids had earlier, meaning their attempted vertical assault was had good reasoning behind it (since they couldnt just flatten the place with an orbital bombardment to get rid of defences, due to it being a rescue mission), and the droids were able to actually land due to the lack of aa defences on the clones side.

Well if the Republic forces had tried to land their troops via their LAAT's than they would have been exposed to all of the anti-air fire covered over the entire area of the mesa. By making a verticle climb would greatly minimize the amount of oncoming laser fire as the heavier (and majority of ) guns were not positioned on the edge of the mesa. LAAT's carry up two 30 troops and are relatively large targets and there were several heavy anti-aircraft cannons posted on the monastery. in addition to that, the separatist forces had no heavy weapons capable of sufficiently firing accurate vertical hellfire. their best means of defense were dwarf spider droids! the decision two make a vertical climb was certainly a more lengthy and demanding assault but the loss of life was decreased. MAKE THE REPUBLIC GREAT AGAIN!! Also, I noticed that you said that amongst the clones disprivileges as non-citizens you listed that they could not vote in Senate elections. The republic is as it says a republic, so even citizens so not get to vote on decisions made on senate floor. citizens of a republic may elect senators and domestic legislative decisions but the senators and representatives are all but completely responsible for the representation of their peoples' political opinion. -Oh God, I just heard myself! why don't I have anything better to do just to be clear I love this channel ', )

Well the thing is that they couldn't land on the monastery before and they had no means of shooting down the seperatists when they took over.
