Go to www.piavpn.com/wararchive to get an 83% off on Private Internet Access! That’s just $2.03 a month, and you also get 4 extra months completely for free! Concerning the Ukrainian Kursk Offensive, we are closely watching and taking notes. Once there are conclusive results and more reliable info, we will certainly make a video about it. At the same time, we still appreciate you writing comments with requests to make a video about Kursk, as it allows more people to see our videos. Keep going!

@bruhism when your assaulting element encounters casualties (like from mines) you pretty much have three choices - a) stop the attack and attempt to eliminate the threat (like demining), which puts you under enemy fire in the open and stalls the offensive, giving the enemy more time to prepare, b) fall back, and lose men and material for no gain, making their sacrifice in vain or c) push on, accept the casualties and take the objective. It's a very delicate game of risk management - as in, do I want to risk my men in taking the objective and, in the long run, save lives or is it no longer possible to take the objective or not get decimated, making further attempts at taking it suicidal. Now, Western militaries usually just accept that not every assault is going to succeed, they accept that sometimes men die for no gain, and thus they fall back and try again in a different way. The Russian military, on the other hand, is still influenced to a large degree with WW2 thinking - where casualties during an assault where inevitable due to the sheer scale of the war, and thus it was better to sacrifice some men to achieve operational success and ultimately save more lives (from encirclement or attrition) and win the war. Furthermore, Russian commanders are expected to achieve success and make their superiors look good, so no junior officer will go back to his commander saying they lost men for no gain. That's why they push on and on and on - they can't go back empty-handed. That, and Russian military thinking is very top-down, and both officers and ESPECIALLY NCOs are often poorly trained in making their own decisions. A Western commander will try another way when encountering, for example, a minefield, using his own tactical expertise and knowledge of the situation on the ground. A Russian commander sticks to the plan, because if he deviates from it and something goes wrong, then he becomes responsible for anything that happens. This is obviously a major generalisation - more elite units are trained in decentralised combat, but it's still not as emphasised as in the West, for the whole Russian society is built around the idea that personal responsibility is dangerous and that there's safety in doing what you're told.

You don't need to be competent to thrive in russian politics, you just have to be loyal. Shoigu has kept his head while being the defense minister in charge that vaporized 30 years of Russian economic potential. The Kremlin sees no threat from a baboon that throws thousands of Russian lives away daily and regresses the Russian army back into the Stone Age. The Kremlin IS threatened by a capable military general that can gather a loyal following and has the balls to stick up to the man.

now it is about to fall again. i am pro ukrainian and its actually a disaster what is happening on the frontline right now. i bet a lot of it has to do with these stupid pointless offensives that end up in failure such as the zaporizhia offensive

Hes documenting historic battles for Ukraine which is a honorable task considering modern war is fought on many more fronts than it used to be I.e information. Move on to the next person your ethics are from a coddled toddler wanna be academic perspective. People need to see these battles. The world needs to keep supporting Ukraine or the Russian menace will continue to expand. I am polish and Ukrainian and my countrymen have been fighting to be free for hundreds of years. Fighting to be free and live in peace is ethical. Whats the other option give up ? Never...
