Since you seem to be in contact with the team, would you be able to do a Q&A video with them regarding uncertainties about the system and future expansion plans? We know the names of some planned expansions, but I think a roadmap of sorts would really help people to get hyped, especially when they discover what ships their anticipated faction might get. I for one want my Borg Probe and Sphere.
@Crabbok6 күн бұрын
Possibly!
@casonwatkins37814 күн бұрын
A scale size Borg cube would be about the size of a board edge, so unless they use a sliding scale, a physical model is unlikely… a sphere on the other hand is more likely.

These ships look too big given the size of the systems. The models look great, but their scale compared to what the play area is supposed to represent seems off.
@jockcop42055 күн бұрын
Part of that is perspective fr the camera. They have also mentioned that a larger play area can be an option for some scenarios.
@soapmonkey52055 күн бұрын
The models are larger than their equivalents in attack wing and the area they’re maneuvering in is smaller. I don’t think the camera has anything to do with that. I want to get into this game, but this just didn’t look great.

I had some reserves about this game but over the last week watching videos this is definitely a buy. But we need a Klingons and Romulans box set next. Hopefully they get cloaking right. "We grow visible. Attend the cloaking system"
@kingbobb0076 күн бұрын
Still perplexed by how they’ve implemented movement. I count 7 distinct steps to move a ship, at each point there’s potential for dexterity error leading to imprecise movement of a ship. The Flight Path system has 3 mechanical steps to move. The ships look fantastic, the ship boards is a really cool evolution of what is basically the Clix system, the way missions work is very Star Trek and plays into supporting a narrative campaign style of play, but getting this to the table for me runs into a movement mechanic that will frustrate me to no end.
@Crabbok6 күн бұрын
I get that it looks clunky at first. After playing several games now I"ve realized that its gets easier and easier. There's also alot of straight movement, and the "Come About" move which lets you rotate to any direction.

For being a core set, there doesn't seem to be enough variety on day one. Not sure why they chose the Dominion as opposed to other factions, but hey, there's always the chance they will drop some expansions right after launch. Really hope we see some Intrepid class ships. (Also, we are all just waiting for the Borg.) Just saying.
@DrMacintosh6 күн бұрын
A core set is never a variety pack. These types of games make their money selling ships as expansion packs. This pack comes with 5 unique ships and one duplicate. Compare this to Star Wars Armada, the core set of that came with only 3 ships.
@lorestorage6 күн бұрын
Also the dominion was chosen because the dominion war is one of the largest and most popular war arcs in star trek. When people think of war in star trek they tend to think either of the dominion war or klingons
@dungeonsdierolls76176 күн бұрын
@@lorestorage I'd be inclined to argue that the Borg conflict is - far - more popular/iconic than the Dominion, extending through two of the series and the premise of the second most popular movie. It had less actual war content depicted, and I'm not saying the Dominion is a bad choice (especially since they had a larger variety of ships shown), but I don't think they compare in the eyes of the general fanbase.

Hey Crabbok woud you consider it more complicated/complex than armada?
@Crabbok6 күн бұрын
Yes. Granted some of that complexity will only be used in certain missions. For example you won't always make away teams, or launch probes, or separate the Saucer Section. Heck some games won't even have combat! But learning all of it will take a bit longer.

I like the movement and the idea of the different systems, but having played a lot of Star Trek Attack Wing OPs years ago where it shortens the playing area (Gorn OP, etc), I'm curious if most of the battles will take place in these tiny pockets of the map. Add in these gorgeous (very large) battle cruisers, which are not as maneuverable to begin with, and you may run into a lot of Austin Powers infinite 3-point turns scenarios. That is my main take away so far.
