Whenever I look at the recent history of Italy, it always amazed me reading about the World Wars. The Italians were the sad sacks in both wars, their troops had low morale and worse equipment, and their officers were for the most part cruel and incompetent. But when they wanted to, they reminded the world why the Roman Republic and then empire stood for nearly 800 years.

Big Mac before talking, you should get informed about everything. Search on Internet who were the arditi soldiers and the "ragazzi del 99" (99 boys). In addition you should learn that traditionally the italians have never been scared and never given up in front of difficulties since the roman repubblic (look at the roman reaction after the defeat of Cannae against Carthage); about WW1, they won alone against the austrians despite their tremendous defeat of Kobarid. And look also how they've been facing coronavirus (about this current moment). This is why the Italian people deserve admiration.

@jacobwurzer37777 ай бұрын
This is not entirely correct. The armor would protect you from standard rifle round from more than 125 meters away - or closer if it hit at an angle. That sounds far but the reality of mountain warfare is that you have people shoot at you from decent distances. It's also useful for soldiers manning machine gun murder holes and is good against shrapnel. Larger caliber would get you as well. (I looked up field tests for this armor.... it weighed 50 kilos!!!)

Way, WAY too many automatic weapons around on the Austro-Hungarian side. With the Italians it's excusable, because the Arditi were an elite formation and got the best of everything. But ordinary Austro-Hungarian grunts would not have had them. The Helriegel was never used, and the Madsen was a very rare weapon issued only to Strumtruppen. It looks like a good game, but its not WW1 so much as a fantasy retelling of it, with elements of dieselpunk like that Zeppelin scene. Even the body armour is stretching it hugely - it wouldn't have stopped rifle bullets, except perhaps at long range.
