@RAD the rolf I don't think any air force in the world has encountered the sort of air defense that the Russian Aviation Forces encountered in Ukraine. When you look at both Ukraine and Russia in terms of plane tally then it seems very weird that they aren't controlling the skies. But if you took into account S-300 batteries, SPAAs, MANPADS (the things that inflicted the most casualties on Russian airpower) then it suddenly makes sense. Ukraine is littered with the stuff, as the Soviets had (and the Russians still do arguably) the largest and most capable air defense forces in the world, as a counter to the USAF. Plus, the Russian Aviation Forces are not the USAF and never were, as it was never Soviet or Russian doctrine to overwhelm the enemy with airpower since in a confrontation with NATO they would inevitably get crushed in the air. So it's a matter of an average air force taking on a pretty good air defense network.

@@Casyfill Depends on the type of Spetsnaz, because it's just a generic term for special troops (not the same as US SOCOM). The Russian military needs to westernize their military. Make the military smaller, more technologically advanced capabilities across all units, and comprised of all professionals. Sell off or just forget about that old Soviet stuff, save themselves the money. Stop it with the stupid nuclear weapons upgrades like Poseidon, having functional nuclear missiles and ballistic missile subs is enough.

I can't express how sad this is. Just young men who joined the army to serve their country and motherland who have girlfriends, mothers and fathers waiting for them to return only to die in the miserable cold under orders from the sociopathic POS Putin. These guys are just people like you and me, trying to find their place in the world. Terrible situation... Their mission a complete failure and they're buried and forgotten, except by their grieving mothers. I hate this shit. Sending all my respect all the way from Iceland. Please have empathy, even for the "enemy".

I've seen it too much on the internet, both side's loss of lives are treated like numbers or "scores" in a freaking sports match. We have to remember that every single one of those numbers are still people, some of them may have truly bad intentions with Ukraine or Russia but some are still people just hoping to get home soon. It's sad that all of this happens just because a couple of old, bitter and powerful men wanted some bit of land. I hope they find peace in the afterlife... if there is ever one, because if there's not then this is just tragic and pointless

Excellent commentary and documentary. Strange thing... the 200th Motorized Rifle Brigade badge/emblem is very similar to the old South African Defense Force (SADF) badge... with the five point yellow fort being the CapeTown fort built by the Dutch after settling in the Cape of Good Hope.

All of this is sad and everyone should recognize that solders are real people, tanks, and equipment are manned by real people. All have Mothers, Fathers, Wife’s and Children. War Mongers like Putin and many others be viewed as destroyers of people and family’s. The same holds true of the Ukrainians whom are fighting for your country and freedom from Russian/Communist/Stalinist Aggression’s. May God have mercy on their souls and grant them peace.

I should ask the question, which is better to use. A brigade setup of troops, or a division set up of troops, each have their pros or cons, just asking because I’ve wondered this for a while
@aleksaradojicic81142 жыл бұрын
Depends on conflict you (may) fight. Brigade are more flexible formations compared to division (and regiments) in general, but on other hand, any casualties will hit brigade harder, compared to division. Personally, I think both should be combined and used. Relatively flexible and stronger combined arms brigades, combined with other support elements to form division (if there is need for one).
@quinlanels85032 жыл бұрын
@@aleksaradojicic8114 so like a division of you are in a fixed fighting force, and a brigade for more fluid units like motorized infantry as it is flexible
@aleksaradojicic81142 жыл бұрын
@@quinlanels8503 Yes and no. It depends on divisional organisation, but changing of brigades between divisions or separation of brigades to do something alone is not unheard thing. But yes. Keeping brigades that spent a lot of time in one division, trained togheter and worked togheter can improve fighting strenght of that division. So no, type of formation (motorized infantry, armored and others) is not as so much important when you talk about division or brigade. For example, Yugoslavia during 1970s and 1980s decideth to move away from divisions towards brigades, because brigades were seen as faster to mobilize and move out of barracks compared to divisions (this was big issue during 1968 large manouveres started as response to Soviet invasion of Czechoslovakia).

You know whats funny? In battle of Raate road at Finnish winter war 1939-1940 44th division was destroyed. It was formed in Ukraine and consisted mostly ukrainians. Raate road is situated few hundred miles south of Pechenga. Now russian brirage from north is destroyed at fields of ukraine. Poetic.
@ayrnovem90282 жыл бұрын
There is zero evidence in the video that the brigade was destroyed or even rendered combat ineffective. There is not even an attempt to estimate what percentage of manpower and equipment was lost. What we know that it participated in clashes with Ukrainian forces near Kharkov and suffered some losses. The rest is propaganda and wishful thinking.
