If you put the realmgore ritualist on the blood shrine and then desecrate it (terrain) and have a reinforced bloodreaver unit as a guard tha seems like a substantial (if immobile) threat for not many points.

Hot take, I feel like Bloodlords faction is actually somewhat decent. Bloodletters are a bit expensive now, but they gained a lot of value too. Plus with the amount of recursion tech they have now I'm sure they could prove to be good.

Watching this video again after discussing with my pals.. This is the most out of turn sequence melee army in AoS. So many tricks to combo. The potential for so many amazing unstoppable tricks is ridiculous. Interestingly, Slaanesh battletome has some good counters. To all those hating this battletome, complaining and saying that's is not powerful enough, you are so blind. Blade of Khorne is now really powerful. To those who can see and collect this army, a great time is coming. Top tier army incoming.

I like skarbrand more now. He has less dmg but in the old tome he needed so much support and synergies. Now he just does his own thing which feels better. 5+ ward vs range is great imho and was the big weakness of this army. You can screen with cheap and or tanky units quite effectively so the loss of the ward save in close combat is legit. Also its great that you dont need to spam bloodthirsters now. You cam play whatever you want. This book feels awesome and khorny aswell. I think khorne should not be just a timmy army the Brute Brainless khorne warriors is a theme but it is not the only aspect. As a god of blood and war the prayers and also fighting shenanigans should be the thing that a khorne army is capable off.. There is more to khorne than just berzerking rage. Ogres orks or gargants can fill that slot better.

I got a look at the book earlier and bizarrely the allies list is only BoC, and only units that can be taken as BoC coalition, which is completely redundant. It feels like a typo honestly, the other 3 Chaos Gods all have access to STD on the allies list for units that don't qualify under Coalition (and that don't have traditionally opposed marks).

@@d.c.4545 it’s “legended” meaning it’s no longer legal for matched play. You can, of course, use it when hanging out with your buds in the club, drinkin bottles of bub, however.

Bloodletters seem interesting to me? Their base damage is better, and their buffs are both easier to apply, and cheaper than what gutrippaz have access to. 2"/3+/3+/-1/1 is a decent base profile, unlike gutrippaz who need to choose between reach or 3s and can't get rend. The real spice for bloodletters I think is actually curse, so you can ping mortals on hit rolls and on wound rolls.

I think a generic Mighty Lord of Khorne with 10 Skullreapers in a Galletian Command Battallion could be very interesting. Because the Mighty Lord's Command Ability would pull the Slullreapers into Always Strikes First. At least in this current season. Plus I like that Slullreapers have Curse built in. If you give them +1 attack from either the Bloodsecrator or the Blood Tithe Table, they're making 50 attacks with Daemonforged Weapons and 6's are mortals in addition. That's tasty damage even at Rend 1. I don't play Khorne myself, so maybe to a Khorne veteran they're nothing special, but I think Skullreapers are pretty solid. (Edit: I thought you could +4 Rally Khorgoraths, since you can reinforce them and had a point about that. But you cannot, Bloodsecrator limits it to 3 or less wounds.)

blood letters is like gutrippas that can get 2+ to hit 2+ to wound with rend -2 walk twice + d6 and than charge 3d6, so they are like gutrippas but they can get into melee and will hit like a brick

Blood Reavers die in even bigger droves than Gutrippers and don't deal mortal wounds (esp buffed mortal wounds via Sludgeraker) This isn't to say Kruleboyz are secretly great, just that you may not be properly taking in all the synergies they have Kruleboyz, atm, are more over costed than fundamentally bad

The Skullreapers are great when you add attacks, end up with 6 attacks each. Make them a unit of 10 and thats 60 attacks with a chance of mortals in addition. They are a meat grinder.

Even at that level you just described, they are at the output of STD chosen, with far more moving parts + investment.

@@matthewpink123 Unbuffed, 10 Reapers do barely 50% of the damage of 10 Chosen, 66% vs a 2+ save. You have to give them +1 attacks, +1 rend and +1 to hit before they're even equal to 10 unbuffed Chosen against most saves (and at this point slightly overperform vs a 2+) However you give Chosen any form of buff, either AoA or Daemonic Power (which they'll always have) and it's literally impossible for Skullreapers to match them, regardless of buffs stacked

What are the cheapest chaos battlescrolls you can get chopped up for tithe?

I guess the best options are Chaos Spawn (70 in StD and 65 in BoC) or Razorgors (65). As single models, they can die after a few chants giving an extra BT. Other interesting options are Tarantulos Brutes and Splintered Fang as they can revive models. Or you just go with Skarr Bloodwrath, sacrifice him and revive him anywhere you need.

You'll just use Reavers at 80pts/10 most of the time. There are slightly cheaper options elsewhere but they don't fulfill a second function outside of Blood Tithe, like Reavers do

Yes they are currently endless spells. Geedubs missed an opportunity to make tie them to the blood tithe rather be cast by priests. It's the same thing as endless spells. If they just appeared after a certain level of blood tithe they'd be interesting. Where are the special monstrous actions, or the heroic actions ? What bothers me is that Khorne armies kind of have to take priests now. As many as possible really. The "warrior heros" are mostly pointless. Note that the bleeding icon says no effect on Khorne units...it doesn't say "friendly Khorne units" which is quite amusing. Pile on the extra attacks? What extra attacks? there's a once per game from the Bloodsecrator who is just useful enough to be taken in a list despite not being a priest, good old reliable crutch is here to stay. Then there's the wholly within 8" of wrathmongers, and 20 Blood warriors don't fit, let alone 30 Blood reavers. The +1 attack for 8 Blood tithe might as well not even be printed, you'll never get to 8, you'll have spent it for useful effects up to 4....any more blood tithe than that will be going on a 20 pack of bloodletters or a bloodthirster. The arcane tome shouldn't be available to anything with the Khorne keyword...Most Khorne players won't even want to put the arcane tome on anything...Hopefully it will be FAQ'd Just like Khorne players won't summon Riptooth just to sacrifice the goodest boy for 2 measly blood tithe. Note that Valkia is still only mortal, not daemon. But worse still is that she didn't get a new model. Skullreapers are still bad...they could at least ignore ward saves to make them a little different... All in all, yes this book is an improvement over the previous one, then again it didn't need much. Basically they've changed all the fight on death and MWs on death by the murder rolls, that's good. They've bumped the spell ignore up to a 5+ because it's pointless quite often (armies will be casting buffs on themselves, not on our dudes) It might be better, but it's an uninspired copy/paste of the previous book just like the one before it was. What a disappointment....

The new bloodletters.. I can see a group of 30 bloodletters with 3 bloodthirsters and a nearby group of wrathmongers will be absolutely disgusting. Take the bloodlords slaughterhost and they are a very solid choice. I can see a list around 3 thirsters, a bloodmaster and 30 bloodletters being a meta comp; Unless im wrong about this, but that also may mean you can make almost your entire army alwasy fight first on everything on your turn; fighting one after another.. i.e. bloodmaster > bloodletters, and Wrath of Khorne thirster > Another thirster and have the third thirster take halo of blood.

i just love how the book that is supposed to be all about melee and duels and bloodshed, is being reviewed where evry single melee unit in the book is being discribed as mediocre melee profile, or just okayish. and again thirsters are piss poor joke of a monster. they should be the absolute devils on any battlefield reaping kills in the thousands yet any single melee foot hero less than half there points deals equal or more damage in melee compared to the freaking so called melee monster gods......

Hexgorger Skulls seem like they really nicely shut down Lumineth (as long as my memory is correct and most of their units are wizards). Edit: Don't the Keepers have the same wounds and armour saves? Sure they're more likely to have a -1 to hit but I'd say Bloodthirsters are on par with them and cheaper than them. Edit 2: NGL, after watching this I am pretty deflated ony Khorne, which is a real shame because they were my first AoS army. Part of my disappointment comes from them coming out at the same time as Slaanesh who have mechanics that are way cooler and flashier to me. GW have written themselves into a corner mechanically with Khorne (and this really showed itself with the half-baked World Eaters codex for 40k), where they've decided he's the combat God and *nothing else*. Being so linier is really hurting the design space for Khornate armies, let's not forget the greatest forges of Chaos are in his realm, so where are the big stompy war machines? Where are the blood flamethrowers and skull bazookas? Of all the mono-God factions Khorne should probably have the most conventional shooting. Ramble aside, guess I'll continue to shelve my Blades of Khorne in favour of Khorne marked Slaves to Darkness :(

I still feel the +5 ward should of been both for shooting and magic army wide regardless of how close you are to the enemy. Khorne is all about close combat so he should be giving buffs to stop shooting and magic to force your enemy to play his way.

@@Wymorn the book looks fun for mortals tbh. I’ve been play mortal khorne for 5 years and they’ve never been the highest damage out of the armies in my play group. The army seems almost like a control army. Lots of walking into melee range, lots of speed. It actually feels kind of thematic that they aren’t an army that’s going to one shot everything, but they’ll have grindy games fighting over objectives. Honestly, put loads of reaver and warrior bodies on objectives with the goretide subfaction, use skullcrushers to pin an important shooting unit or an important hero in the back of the board, and win that way.

@@kennypalmer8971 if the grinding works as you describe then that would be good as that always what I’ve liked in games. Though I think myself and a lot of others were hoping to move away from the pillow fists and buff reliance and to something more like ironjawz but with more to them as that would feel rather thematic to Khorne I’d say.

They have strong warscrolls with overlapping buffs. Very few armies have to overlap the way khorne does. Khorne mortals aren’t the most straight up killing army. Overlap buffs, grind out on objectives, throw buckets of dice. The army is still incredibly fun

Nice glow up for juggernaut riders Blood Warriors with 3+ armor is dumb They can coalition normal Chaos Warriors for an anvil ( or add more Juggernauts ) The new rolls are just a side variant of SCE explosions Army wide fight on death, even if not mortal wounds, would be more thematic Bloodletters kinda tanky now with 2 wounds and 5+ ward vs long range shooting (Sentinels, SCE, and KO who don't have a death wish) Great glow up for mortal units (save a slight nerf to Bloodsecrator - and then compensated for with that rally) Maybe we won't just see Bloodthirster spam? Too bad exalted Khorne hero with shield is gone Guess he is just an Exalted Hero of Chaos now with mark of Khorne

Feels a tiny bit lazy, like they had some good ideas but ran out of steam. No unique Monstrous actions. No unique Heroic actions. Lots of buffs specifically for Gorechosen keyword that no one asked for. Inexplicably useless Deathbringers (again). Must use multiple Priests every game (again). 1d3 dmg for Thirsters (again lol). Let's see what we can do with it I guess. The movement shenanigans are pretty fantastic. And it's nice that Bloodletters got a boost.

Imagine that the God of murder and bloodlust and war and melee combat etc has greater demons that are worse in melee then the wizard gods spellcasting demons. GW have fucked up khorne for the entirity of AoS so far (d3 damage should be illegal) 🤡

Why are they so afraid of making bloodthirsters expensive yet terrifying monsters? Seeing 3-4 in a list is just stupid. They should be rare and expensive and kick ass because they’re the strongest daemons of the god of war! They need to be like 400 points minimum and have crazy damage output. D3 is insulting for any Khorne unit, let alone a fucking bloodthirster.

I definitely agree, healing units doesn't feel right in a Khorne army. It's one thing to have say your demon hero heal himself. That's about the extent I'd say makes sense for healing in Khorne. I really dislike having every single ability in every army. Khorne doesn't have any magic. That's unique to them. The day they allow magic in Khorne is the day the game is officially ruined. Just throwing everything including the kitchen sink at an army just to try and sell models doesn't work.

HOT TAKE GRAND strategies. Meaning they are quite big. Should actually be difficult to achieve. I disagree with having easy GS....what's the point then. You know going into a match that if nothing else you're getting 3 free points at the end. I prefer grand strategies to be difficult, interactive and fun. Not, have an invocation on the table 😒 (ya I'm looking at you dwarves)
