For me its not even about the rules. I just hate the fantasy space marine art direction and miss the whimsical/ hobbity vibes. Its hard for me to justify jumping into a game that’s just not appealing especially when my main interest in fantasy was painting

One tip for anyone like me just getting started I essentially played a bunch of games against myself to be able to go through the flow. Having this video playing and referencing it helped me understand the gameplay

Enjoyed this video and thanks for the clear explanations on screening and zoning. Are you going to do another one on zoning in AOS 4.0? Rules have changed and putting 10 models in a straight line isn't allowed anymore (I think). How do you handle the double file screens since they have to be close to at least two other models? Like you said in the video, charging units now have an easy time just turning around the screens. I play Gitz btw.😉

Ok my god this is cool! If been a traditional artist for years and when my hubby and I got into DnD a little over a year ago I started painting minis, but struggled with the techniques. He saw this and showed me and I NEED to try this method! Thank you for this video!!!

Slap chop tau ?

Never been a fan of using a paper towel to wick off excess paint for dry brushing as it pulls the medium from the paint. Also despite it being called dry brushing, you should have a slightly moist brush for dry brushing.

What I wish they would do to really help new players is with their army builder app. Put in a system where when you select a unit to be in a regiment it places all the abilities into an army page that organizes all abilities by what phase they are to be used in. Then also in the description, name where they come from i.e unit name, faction ability, ect. That way you don't really need to check every single warscroll each phase to see what abilities you have avaliable to you each phase. Idk I think this would be easy to do and make it way easier to keep track of everything.

When doing a campaign you want juves Rob. They level up better. Having said that some gangs have shit juves...not sure if cawdor has this problem.

Someone said to me 90% of color is shading, so get that right first and the rest is academic. This is the way.

I’m probably overlooking it but would love to know exactly where to find them with exact locations besides online or on GW website. I have a lot of paint and don't really want to buy more, do I need contrast paints for this or should I just water down what I'm using? I'm ok at painting and I find this is a great technique in general not just for speed although it seems it might be harder to pull off on smaller 28mm miniatures.

Use tubes of artists acrylic paints - they're better (I have 34 years experience). And dont forget to exaggerate. Also, paint like you would on canvas, by that I mean include your own shadows, highlights and reflections. Then you'll be a master.

this is a great technique! as someone who has just got their first army, this will be a lot of help! however, skarbrand's wings are tech-proof, but this will be super helpful for blood crushers

May I say, this is incredibly complicated from what it was, I thought they wanted to bring the entry level down a notch, but I, who played 5 years by now, am quite overwhelmed lol.

Two years later, and this is still good fun! How anyone missed the satire in this I will never know. I have started painting the back of my hand, even if I haven't touched a mini in weeks. I gives me massive painting cred at the flgs :)
