It's part of the bbc agenda. Only today (being a passenger in someone else's car) I was forced to listen to Naga Munsheti on R5 talking about how the alphabet brigade are "unfairly discriminated against" in the context of artificial insemination. Apparently current policy requires couples to make every effort (not sure if that is the precise language) to induce pregnancy "naturally" before being eligible for taxpayer funding for medical procedures. A programme guest was complaining that it is impossible for many of the alphabet brigade to induce pregnancy "naturally", and Naga was either genuinely (or acting to be) shocked about the notion that "natural insemination" is something that only happens between "different sex" partners. I was fortunate to learn this science quite early in my school education - and I appreciate that schools may well not be providing the same standard of factual science based education today. To create a natural pregnancy requires intercourse between a man and a woman. If someone doesn't understand that basic fact I would openly question their wisdom and knowledge in respect of being able to provide adequate parenting going forward from there.
