Don't care if people call this cheesy or make fun of it. It came out the year I was born. I grew up watching these. Had them all on VHS as a child. Thank you for putting these up :)
@DaveAndBeth19782 жыл бұрын
Couldn't agree more! If this came out in 1988, then I was 10 at the time, had them all on VHS too as a young girl... Evokes memories of my little brother, who loved the series too, we watched them loads before he sadly died of Reye's Syndrome aged 9 in 1992 (I was 14), but it's lovely to see these again and remember when he was still with us... Wonderful adaptation!

You know, the production value in this series is high, for it invites viewers to engage their imagination. I like the way the creatures are unconvincing by today's standards. Being served up many a lush but story-less movie with weakly drawn characters, I feel like Puddleglum ... preferring to live a dream world rather than a 'real' one on screen whose studio's priority is money over story, or challenging its audience. This is a true-hearted attempt to bring the spirit of the books to life.

Not gonna lie, first time I watched this as a kid these beavers absolutely terrified me. Peeking out from behind the trees phwwoooarrr gave me chills. Then a close up of his face was simply traumatising.

@ludoviciana11 I think this mini-series was nominated for Emmy's, I love this series, this version kept very faithful to the books rather than the new ones, the new ones do look very much alike where as these kids don't look like siblings at all but they are brilliant young actors

that moment when mr beaver says 'aslan is on the move' and they all do a proper cheesy movie moment 'look far off into the distance' even though they have no idea who the hell he is xD

OK, everyone, let's try to get this straight: It probably wouldn't have been possible to have animatronic beavers because, unlike Aslan, they have to do a lot of moving around. They could get away with Aslan staying in practically the same place throughout a whole scene, but the beavers had to lead the children all over the place.
@Blokewood34 жыл бұрын
Yeah. But maybe the costume would have looked less silly on a smaller actor. The BBC had quite a few short actors working on Narnia to play Trumpkin(his actor also plays the head dwarf in LWW), Trufflehunter, Reepicheep, Nikabrik, and more.

People you got to remember this was the late 80's and the technology was different. I remember the animated one. Think it was from 1982, not the 79 one. That was a good one for animation. Think BBC made only 3 of them. The Silver Chair was the last when it came on PBS here in America.

I just can't believe how much better actors these 4 kids are. I mean, sure, their ages are a little too close together and one of them is rather...unfortunate-looking. But compared to the 4 (especially Susan/Anna Popplewell) kids in the new movie versions, these kids should have won Oscars. Or Emmys, I suppose, it would have been.
