'If Wildlife Aid is able to continue, then my dad lives forever.’

One of the UK’s biggest wildlife charities has an uncertain future, as its founder has been diagnosed with terminal cancer. Simon Cowell MBE, the founder of the Wildlife Aid Foundation, has spent most of his life saving animals.
The charity and rescue centre is based on land at his home in Leatherhead but it will have to relocate once Simon passes away. They bought a pocket of derelict land by the M25 where it plans to relocate to and are in the process of turning the site into a wetlands environment, but need to raise more funds to build a visitor centre and wildlife hospital.
Now, Simon's dying wish is to raise enough money to secure the charity's future, with the campaign already being supported by Ricky Gervais, Stephen Merchant, Stephen Fry and Chris Packham.

Simon's legacy is one that must continue on for as long as wildlife needs it. The amount of hard work saving all kinds of animals, most of whom have been hurt in some way by the (indirect) actions of humans, that Simon, Lawrie and the rest of the dedicated staff of Wildlife Aid have done for so many years has made such a positive impact on nature already and I cannot imagine the world without them. I really hope they manage to get enough money from donations to continue.

He was a very unique and nice man. I miss his deep calm voice and his very special way to handle tawny owls. I rember the one owl that came back when it was weak knowing there are humans who know its in danger out there. I think he is still around and cares in some situations in the aid center.
