In 2000, My Dad was terminally ill with lung cancer. One day we'd been out for a drive and I was taking him back to the hospice and I had this playing on a tape in the car. He'd never heard it before but he listened several times and absolutely loved it. I had it played at his funeral, very moving. I've only recently been able to listen it again....

I was watching this video, which I adore, and watching Neil look over with so much love at his son, who is playing the echoey fill guitar here, and I was imagining Neil having a few words with the audience, about telling your family members just how much you love them, and encouraging the audience to do the same. Especially parents and children. And I was thinking about my 28 year old daughter, who I told just this morning how much I care about her, and how wonderful I think she is. Then I read your comment. The very definition of every 80's band we grew to know some 43 years ago, comprised of several meaningful intros, verses, every one of them different. Memorable choruses and catchy bridges. Lyrics that are never forgotten till this day. In another 30 to 40 years who's going to remember Cardi B, Doja Cat and a list that can go on.... 80's music will always be an era where people will remember a time and place where they heard a song, related it to a time in their lives and still to this day these legends of their time still evoke that sense of nostalgia in us all.

Have been fortunate enough to see Crowded House live several times over the years, including during their first tour of Europe, when it was just Paul, Neil and Nick. A very small club venue, but a wonderful memory. I remember Paul walked around handing out fruit during the intermission. Saw them years later and talked with the band members earlier in the day. They signed a lot of stuff for me and Neil even let me pick a song to add for that evening's set list - I picked "Chocolate Cake." I absolutely love this group❤

What a beautiful redition of this classoc song. Neil Finn is one of he greatest musicians in history, songwriting and performance. The fact that his two sons are in the band and rock this song makes me fall in love with my childhood again. Ive met Liam and Elory multiple times when Liam was touring for himself (gracious and wonderful people) and I am smiling ear to ear watching this video.

What makes this song so perfect? I have heard this 10000x since it came out, and it makes me emotional every single time, without fail. There's nothing particularly complex about it, and I couldn't name another Crowded House song, but add my name to the list who say it's their favorite, all-time, hands-down.

Such a perfect song: the lyrics, the groove, the execution...and the jump suit. This tune is going to stand the test of time.

Took me a long time to appreciate this song, I thought it was about the downfall of a relationship, but I was wrong. It's the polar opposite, it's about a relationship surviving the ups and downs.
