It's going to take a few years to realize how special and sophisticated this music is due to being in the age of quick ringtone/tiktok music. Like good books the more you dig the more you find, this music always shows me something new with each listen. Very grateful for a Dylan, Bowie, Lennon-type talent in this generation. May time treat these gentlemen with glory.
@AB-kq9xm2 жыл бұрын
Well said. So often sophistication can come at the expense of listenable songs, but it's like they've nailed the balance as well as anyone, and it elevates their work above anything else happening in pop music atm for me.

Freaky keypad By the retina scan I've been given good reason to believe I ain't quite where I think I am But it's always worth half a blast You know the face, but you can't see past The disco strobes in the stumbling blocks Wait, there's the other island now Formation displays of affection fly over (Eyes roll back) and I can see both islands now It's the intermission Let's shake a few hands Blank expressions invite me to suspect I ain't quite where I think I am Stackable party guests To fill the awkward silences The disco strobes in the stumbling blocks Wait, there's the other island now Formation displays of affection fly over (Eyes roll back) and I can see both islands now From my vantage point The spare set of tingles will race up your spine If I get it my way Looks like the Riviera Is coming into land Early predictions would seem to suggest I ain't quite where I think I am Formation displays of affection fly over (Eyes roll back) and I can see both islands now

In 2013 alex turner gave his “that rock n roll” speech at the brits awards announcing himself as one of the last guardians of british rock n roll. This song is the only thing close to rock n roll in 9 years. Its very 70s bowie. 2 albums 1 song

@@Slashycent coked up and in character. I wouldn’t say he was having a laugh. Look at the other members of the band as he says it
@Slashycent Жыл бұрын
@@04mdsimps I'd say it was a very "Alex" appearance, all in all, and the man is kind of a walking shitpost. He even admits to it on Tranquility Base: "There's no limit to the length of the dickheads we can be." "I'm so full of shite." Speaking of Tranquility Base, there's a ton of Bowie in it too, even if it wasn't all that rocky. "Four Out Of Five" sounds like a straight up impression of David at times ("I don't wanna be nice and you knooooow thaaaat!") Them losing touch with rock n roll, both willfully and inadvertently, is actually a recurring theme on their newest album "The Car". "Big Ideas", "Sculptures of Anything Goes", "Body Paint", it's all meta commentary on their new musical identity. Looking at their recent live performances though, they actually seem to cling to the genre much more than their latest records might make it seem. Maybe Alex's speech was genuine after all. "That rock n roll, eh?"
