If this were a simple geopolitical issue then I would say you are correct but it’s an age old problem between the Sunni and Shiite. The Hoothies in Yemen are Shia (funded by Iran) and the Saudi’s Shiite. Saudi did not support the Hoothies and have openly stated they deserve what they get for their behavior towards the shipping lanes and their engagement in the Israeli war. Saudi is against the Hoothies in Yemen in the same way they have funded a proxy war against Shia in Iraq. If the west takes the western bank of Yemen and gives it to the Saudi’s they will have no problem accepting it under the condition of protecting the shipping lanes.

I can understand Yemen's stance against Israel. Attacking commercial ships linked to Israel makes sense to slow supplies into Israel. But what makes no sense is attacking other commercial ships of other nations who don't want to be part of the conflict. Yemen supports Palestine which I am so glad they are, but was it really necessary to bring other nations in like Australia, Bahrain and Canada (with citizens who are anti-Israel and governments who are neutral to minimal support to the US. Israel and UK) and other nations who use the Suez canal shipping route including nations neutral or against Israel's actions. Was it worth expanding the conflict even further?
