From presumptions that you're being forced to wear it, to being told 'to go back to your own country' because of it. When it comes to clothing, the burqa is arguably the most contentious of them all. So how do people who wear the burqa feel about the stereotypes they're given?

Sleepy Energy they are all wearing niqabs expect the girl without the covered face. She’s wearing a hijab which only covers the head and neck. A burqa covers everything even the face. @Mike R. very true. That element of choice is very very important because when there is compulsion involved it takes away the sweetness of that experience. For example muslims pray 5 times a day and it is awesome because we get to experience peace. If someone keeps telling you "pray!" Without you wanting to, it's most likely you won't feel that attraction to prayer.

I do other kind of exercices at home while wearing something beauthiful call : a jogging. Still there is special clothes you can wear for that. 4. I do swim and wade. Since the beginning of time, we have jilbab who are made for this. Or you can wear an old abaya if you don't have the intention to swim. 5. I do enjoy the breeze. The air get under my dress haha. 6. I do enjoy the sun in my backyard because no one can see me. 7. And yes I do sit cross-legged. @s҉e҉x҉ ҉ a҉d҉d҉i҉c҉t҉ hello I allow myself to get involved in this :) Tbh, sonetimes it may be hard. It may be too hot or uncomfortable, but we don't even think about removing it, it's a part of us. If your head hurt you, would you take it off? The best part is even when we are kinda struggling (even thought the struggle is very small, not so hard that it seems), our belief in God, knowing we do that to obey God and that we will gain his benediction makes us so happy, that the hijab becomes a sweet part of our hearts, not just our bodies. If you are religious you may get my point, the sweetness of struggling for your lord. If I was forced to take of my Hijab off, I would feel so sad. I wouldn't feel myself and most of all I'd find it pure injustice. I hope I enlightened you about what we feel. Have a nice day :)

Ligeia D.Aurevilly I think her point was that girls in bikinis look like featherless chicken in public. Many niqabis could legit go around saying all girls need to wear it, why aren’t they wearing it etc etc and there would be an uproar. They don’t. Even if they believe that wearing niqab is fardh they keep it to themselves. But everyone who believes girls shouldn’t wear it are sooooo ready to attack niqabis. Like Wtf, it’s not a cultural thing is a religious thing. They don’t do it out of culture it’s out of religion. Get it right.

"You're so lucky you don't have to wear makeup!" Nobody HAS TO wear makeup. It's a choice. Edit: I know that people have self-esteem issues. You don't need to tell me that. But everyone still has a choice no matter how they feel. Some people feel as though they NEED to wear makeup when they really don't need it (nobody needs it) and to those people, I say that true beauty isn't simple, it's complex. Sorry if what I've just said is offensive.

In Countries, wich are not secular and "ruled" by Islam, they *do not* have a choice. Those are the countries where they are stoned, if they get raped, because it is obviously their fault. They are punished there for not wearing a hijab, burqa, niqap etc. They are punished in every aspect of their lifes, for being a women. If they would leave Islam in those countries, this also goes for men btw, they are going to get killed. The official punishement for leaving Islam in pretty much every Islamic country is; Death. Awesome Choice... you want to live and be a slave, or you want to die? For a black woman, not to understand that kind of sentiment, I really feel sad for you parents, who've failed to raise with some proper morals.

If the burka is made to protect from the local desert climates, then tell me, why does it have to be black out of all the colours, in the middle of the scorching desert exposed to extreme sun, why does it have to be the colour that absorbs the most heat. Why is it made out of polyester that is extremely water resistant and causes all of the woman's sweat to not evaporate and further punish her by making her drown in her own sweat. Polyester is also one of the best insulators and is usually used in winter clothing not in summer clothing. Why is it constructed so that it impedes the woman''s vision. If the burka is a protective piece of clothing then why do only women wear it, do men not need the same protection from the weather? It also causes a lot of other problems for women such as making it more difficult for them to drink water and consume food while outdoors.

The idea that women’s bodies are inherently sexual, but men’s bodies are not (at least not to a similar degree) plays into the prejudice that sex is something that only men want, and only women provide. Women by themselves don’t have any sexual agency or sexual desires, so there’s no need to hide men from the gaze of women - no temptation results anyway. This is factually incorrect and sexist. The idea that women should be held responsible for men’s sexuality rather than let men by themselves take responsibility for themselves is also deeply sexist. I’m a heterosexual man. I’m responsible for my own behavior in every way. That remains precisely equally true regardless of whether the women in my vicinity is wearing burqa or being completely nude. I reject the idea that sexual temptation is a sin in the first place. This demonization of perfectly normal human sexuality is by itself harmful. Behavior can be wrong, but merely feeling whatever it is you’re feeling can’t by itself be wrong. I reject the strongly associated idea that consensual sex between adult human beings is in any way wrong. Adult human beings own their own bodies and have the right to do what they want with those bodies as long as their actions do not harm others without consent. We don’t require the “stamp of approval” from God, or from a priest in the form of “marriage” in order to be allowed to have sex. I think especially the forms of clothing that veils the face act as both a practical and emotional barrier between the women wearing it and the rest of society. I consider this to be a bad thing, as I believe human contact in local societies is a good thing. It’s also worth mentioning that the women who wear it and feel they’ve got little choice in the matter seldom have the freedom to be publicly vocal about this problem. The result is that the ones who wear it by choice are vocal about it (and praised for that by their communities!) while the ones who feel coerced into it are silent by necessity. At least half of the women I know from muslim-majority backgrounds either currently wears, or growing up used to wear hijab - but not even a single one of them would’ve been free to voice this opposition at the time. There’s a systematic silencing going on here.

alibababa6 *I think you need some clarification. Firstly, there is no mention of the burqa or hijab in the Quran. There is mention of modesty, and both men and women are told to cover to a certain degree (look it up).* *I don’t know how you’ve turned the idea that men are less capable of controlling they’re desires into a sexist comment towards women, it’s actually sexist towards men, and from what we’ve heard and seen in 2018, it seems like there’s some truth to it.* That is mentioned in the Quran, but nowhere does it mention a lack of sexual desires for women or that women should ‘provide’ sex to men. Out of your comment is you rejecting things that are unrelated to this video or Islam, all I can do is recommend that you do some actual research.

If I choose to dress modestly because it makes me feel happy and closer to my religion, does that make me oppressed? Are Catholic Nuns and Priests who choose to be chaste and wear modest clothing oppressed by their religion?Oppression is "the state of being subject to unjust treatment or control". Disbound They're not living in countries where Islam is the majority religion. They're living in Western secular countries where your religion is a private matter; countries that have Christian roots and where women and men are equal. Do what you want in lands where Islam is the majority religion but don't disrespect the culture and history of the country you choose to live in. Nuns don't dress modestly anyway, they wear a wedding veil as a symbol that they are a Bride of Christ, they also wear a wedding ring and live a life of celibacy this has nothing to do with any edict from a man. You should not allow any man to make any financial decisions for you - whether you work in the home or outside - you are doing a job and financial decisions should be made by both of you.

You think as a prophet of God your God would have told Muhummad it is not okay to marry children as they are not even developed yet, etc. Go back to your fairy tale book where Muhummad flew to heaven on a flying horse 🙄

@@zaimarind3930 What would your parents reaction be if you decide to ditch the burka for convenience sake.. ? Coz I've seen girls being judged harshly for not wearing one.. it's just slutshaming in the garb of modesty. Also, Is it really islamic?? Coz practice of wearing burkha, niqab predates Islam.. the whole thing stems from a patriarchal tribal society.. man the protector and woman his protectorate.. that's why the polygamy aspect is also there. If you enjoy wearing a full body black garment in hot and humid conditions then more power to you.. but if it has soceital pressure and defeats your common sense then you need to raise your voice..

Because France is a hypocritical country with double standards 。 I have a friend from the UAE who works for the Embassy and i can tell you that his wives can wear the Burka whenever and wherever they want in France, and if anyone dares to stop them, their bodyguards and army of lawyers will take care of everything on the spot. I saw them shopping for jewelry Place Vendome and the police was told not to even look at them, let alone talk to them, if they wanted to keep their job.
