It's disingenuous to frame Sahar as the lived reality for ALL women wearing a veil. It certainly isn't in religiously conservative countries where faith doctrine is law. While banning the veil is utterly absurd, Rachel is correct on that. There is no easy answer to protect women who are conditioned or are otherwise forced to wear the veil, and those who choose to voluntarily. And how do you sort those who are conditioned but lie out of fear of reprisal? Best you can do is offer them protective services and the ability to come forward.
@la_illaha_ill_allah
@la_illaha_ill_allah Жыл бұрын
It is also disingenuous to frame women who are forced to wear it as being the lived reality for ALL women wearing a veil. Most women who wear it choose to wear it out of love and belief for their religion. Some women being forced doesn't mean no women are allowed to wear it. And by the way, in religiously conservative countries wearing the burka is not the law. It is not the law in Saudi Arabia or in Iran.
@Blackjax137
@Blackjax137 Жыл бұрын
@@la_illaha_ill_allah First of all, strawman. Saying it is disingenuous to frame Sahar’s example as the reality for all women =/= all women are forced to wear the veil. You concede yourself that some are indeed forced. Secondly, Saudi Arabia isn’t that religiously conservative by comparison and you’re wrong. Iran does mandate that all women, regardless of religion, must wear a veil. Or did the brutal killing of Mahsa Imani in custody for allegedly wearing a veil incorrectly, sparking mass civil unrest, not happen in your mind? The same is true for Afghanistan, Palestine, and the Aceh Province in Indonesia. Not including subcultures and religious communities here in the UK and other western countries where women may face reprisal from their families, friends, partners and the communities themselves. Even if not sanctioned by the state.

@@Blackjax137obody is denying that some * key word is some * are force but you also have to understand not everyone is, to think because a woman is wearing a hijba is oppressed is same as thinking a woman who is wearing open clothing is a bad woman…..or person of color is oppressed when that isn’t true

@@simsimmer3040 So we should ignore all those women *forced* like Mahsa Imani who was brutally killed in Iranian custody because *some* are not? Agree to disagree. @@Blackjax137 absolutely not may allah rest masha Imani soul and may help her family and all those poor woman who were force to wear hijba. What I meant is nobody is denying the fact that some woman are being force which is absolutely wrong and against islam my point is that we can’t just say every woman is oppressed if she wears a hijba. As for you point how we know some woman are being force or not that the thing we are trying more so we are trying to teach people islam so they understand forcing someone to do something isn’t islam and against what allah have told us hope you understand. As for the people of Iran that’s the problem no country right now represents islam as they aren’t fellow it 100 percent as the leader of the islam country have become greedy and want power as you can see none of them have step up to help Iran or afghanistan.

Rachel: "My doubts about the full face veil is were the women choosing to cover their faces". Sahar confirms it's her choice. Rachel: "I still have a problem with the full face" It's possible she has stereotypes as well that's why she thinks it's causing problems on the streets. If she only mentioned the cultural shock, I would understand and respect that but it also wouldn't make it right to suggest others take off something that has meaning to them just to make you feel comfortable. I am also glad she pointed out that from a feminist point of view, there is nothing wrong with this because there isn't.

It very sad they say woman wear hijba because men can’t control themself when they don’t understand their own argument had this been the case allah won’t have told men to lower their gase allah won’t have told men to cover them self from belly buttons to their knees. Sure it isn’t hijba and I understand the hardship that come with hijba but at the end of the day it is a commandment that is by Allah. and you get a reward for it. And if start saying why men or woman can do that but the other can’t you just make it hard for both genders they are different and what they need is equity not equality ❤️

There is a difference, the face mask doesn't cover the entire face. It's just the mouth and nose. Also it was the norm of the society at the time due to the health situation and risks of not covering the nose and mouth. The Burqa hasn't made any positive contributions to British society and it's hard to argue that Islam has made more positive than negative contributions across Europe. The problem is that many don't believe in the concept of national laws as only Sharia is deemed acceptable

you need to realise the story because which the covering came into being in islam. It about eve teasing one of mohammad wife by mohammad best friend Umar when she would go out to defecate at night. That when instead telling umar to stop eve teaasing because he was a warrior Mohammad told his own wife to cover up. If this is the story. Quran also states "Your wives are like farmland for you,1 so approach them as you please.2 And send forth something good .for yourselves.3 Be mindful of Allah, and know that you will meet Him. And give good news to the believers." This Ayah al-Baqarah (The Cow) 2:223 . this is as per muslim is what god spoke to Mohammad. Also as per this can never be changed till eternity as this words of Allah and not human.

Women should be free to choose. But awareness need to be brought that it was originally meant to hide from men and not for fashion. Problem is they are disrespected in their community if not wearing one, which kind of obligates voluntary wearing. And there are families which want their women to wear it, but men from same family go out in western clothes including denim, suits, jackets. Awareness needs to be brought to women and let them decide.

As a Christian woman I am so humbled by the faith and devotion shown by our Muslim sisters towards God and through their love of God to their husband and families. We seem to forget as a Christain country what St Paul said in 1 Corinthians 11, in which he expressed women to cover their hair in worship and in church. This is why pre Vatican II Catholic women would wear chapel veils in church before the tabernacle where we believe God is residing. I choose now to cover mu hair completely, I am a single woman and my own person. I believe it brings me closer to God. We say that a women's hair is her "crowning glory" I choose to give that glory back to God. The problem with feminism today is that they are pushing an agenda for a small group of predominantly western cultured women and the rest of us don't have a voice it seems. Feminism doesn't speak for me. You can't tell a fellow sister to not put herself entirely on show, literally wearing lingerie as clothes without being seen as "backwards" or "repressive" and yet they can tell us that we are "disillusioned" or "operessed". What nonsense. Look at Eastern Orthodox Christain women who also choose to veil constantly or certain Jewish communities where married women wear a tischel or a wig. Thank you for standing up for my rights to choose sister. You spoke with a passion for women's 'freedom' which I could finally relate to. God love you for it. We love God first and Rachel showed a true mass of ignorance and disregard towards those of us who choose Him first. May the Eternal Father, Allah, the one who was before Abraham was be our light, our guide, our deliverer. Let us rise like saints against those who have forgotten their maker and choose the world and it's charms over the true call of the heart. I will stand up for your rights to practice your religion and with the devotion that you do, stand with us too. We are sisters. ❤✝️☪️✡️❤

As a "spiritual but not religious" person, I am sorry to inform you that no one is closer to god than anyone else. Spiritually speaking, you are giving your glory to a mirror, so whatever meaning that holds is the meaning you yourself give it. A person can "feel" closer to god by having a giant red mowhawk, for example. Life doesn't inherently have meaning - *we* give it meaning, as God lives all of our lives.

What is the religious reasoning behind this God wanting worshippers to cover up their hair and faces? Surely there is an explanation? Also, if it is just a way to worship why do many Muslim countries require covering up for modesty or require non-Muslims to cover up. If it is truly a choice then why is she doing what she says God wants or instructs? The problem is that a lot of people are conditioned or forced to cover up. Is it really choice when you are pressured or encouraged to cover up? I would say the same thing about people wearing skimpy sexy clothes. Is it really a choice if you live in a society where you are conditioned to dress skimpy and sexy?

Therefore - if the Quran says that the Creator advises women to cover their faces with an outer garment to avoid abuse, well don't you see how that changes things? This woman may well be in an empowered educated social position, and making a choice for herself, but think how many women around the world of her faith don't have this choice. However when the word “حجاب” (pronounced: hijab) was mentioned in the Quran it was not used to mean the “head covering” , rather it meant: partition, barrier. Here; - Allah says in the Quran “And when you ask [Prophet’s wives ﷺ] for something, ask them from behind a partition. That is purer for your hearts and their hearts.” - Also here Allah says in the Quran “And when you recite the Qur’ān, We put between you and those who do not believe in the Hereafter a concealed partition.”

I don't blame Boris Johnson's action against bank robbers speech during his campaign. In my opinion UK must ban people covering their faces in public places like in France.

If it’s an act or faith then why don’t men dress up in these garments ?

@xx-xv8co 3 ай бұрын
Men have a 'dress code' too. They have to cover themselves from the belly button to the knee. It is different for men and women as naturally both the male body and the female body are different. Overall, it is fair and if you choose to not see it as being fair then you need to go educate yourself.

so when someone shows their legs/body etc it’s fine but when they choose to cover their body it’s wrong?😂 it’s their own choice they should be able to wear what they feel comfortable in.

It’s not covering their body - it’s covering everything. It’s walking around like a Halloween ghost. It’s removing all identity. Notice only the women have to do this, because of sexism against women that is so rampant in Islamic countries.

That's pathetic. That's equivalent to imposing your beliefs on someone else. I feel awful that these people are still out there. Who are you to judge the custom of another culture? Haven't you done enough of the colonizing?

As a woman, it's her choice, but then the Muslim men shouldn't ogling or sexually harass white women or other women of colour who are Christian or Buddhist. That's my pet peeve. The Muslim men are sleaze balls.

With that attitude and your logic, muslims should stay in the islamic world and not live in the west. It is because they live in Europe we must debate the issue. No one asked them to come and live here. We must make sure that wearing the hijab is an act of free will and not a threat to women's rights. Many muslim women have escaped oppressive states and it is our duty to make sure that oppression does not continue here.
