Honestly, this is one of my favourite episodes of anything... The concept is so interesting and down to earth that any alien monster would have ruined this beautifully written 45 minute drama. In a way "Time" is the monster at least in John Ellis's case (unfortunately 😢) Absolutely wonderful episode overall!

I actually think they made this 'the humans out of time' a lot better than how doctor who does it. I mean they all are civilians,the difference could arguably be because they choose to go with the doctor and have the possibility to come back as they don't and are stuck.

kevin waag the difference is, for the doctor everything seems to be an adventure or a journey since he basically lives out of time and only temporary stays with a companion, he can‘t really understand those emotions, but the torchwood team is born and lives in the same era ... well ofc not jack^^

This is my favourite episode of Torchwood and probably one of my favourite episodes of anything because it is very heartbreaking but very powerful and I love these kind of time travel episodes and people out of time episodes.

@@edmundprice5276 it allowed the Doctor Who universe on earth to be explored in greater detail. It should not have been scrapped. Probably too late to bring back unless with another main cast.

@@edmundprice5276 I think it was a combination of scheduling and budget cuts. Russell T Davies went on to do other things, as did others. But I imagine the comeback is a mix of it being back on iPlayer, Jack appearing in Doctor Who again and just that it never quite died. Even with no more telly there have been loads of audios and such since

Good catch! Yep the first couple seasons of Torchwood were actually set a year ahead of their airings thanks to the jump to 2006 Doctor Who did back in 2005.
