Very cool, we could clearly see the barrel here is getting seriously overgassed at the end due to gas port errosion, wich will then again lead to high pressure cycling rate and will cause malfunctioning, my best guess here is pore metal composition in the barrel, and prolly overgapped in the barrel extention wich shows gas blowby in the barrel nut section when heated up. I know you only have the one lower to use but when running a 20+ inch barrel with a rifle length gas system you should be running a H3 or H6 buffer. Those uppers are designed to work with a rifle length and weight buffer. Will it work with an H2 in a carbine length tube? Of course, but with a higher cyclic rate and higher likelihood of bolt bounce showing up. Especially at higher cyclic rates... Slow it down a little and live a little longer.

Yeah, so there’s 2 purpose built uppers that’d be perfect for your meltdown and that’s gonna be an upper from small team supply of their AR-RPK or Red Right Hands Recce LMG with their heat mitigation system. Of course though if you want modified built uppers I would say get another HBAR 20” barrel with A2 front sight cuts on them and use Adam’s Arms Piston kit instead of a gas tube. Of course if it’s a gas tube you want I would switch it out with an Inconel gas tube. Of course though the only ar-15 upper variant that could withstand that kind of full auto fire would be Canada’s Colt LMG Rifle that was an open bolt machine gun from the get go that way you wouldn’t have those cook off’s. That’s why for closed bolt Ar-15 variants you’d want a special upper and or go with gas pistons so as to lesson the heat going into the reciever.
