BCM Update for the New Harley Davidsons!

This is a BCM malfunction error. If you clear the code and it returns you will need a dealer with a digital tech tool to diagnose.

thank you for these videos again. Quick question, I have never updated my bike, however, the few times i have taken my bike in for service, the HD service shop conveyed they did some updates, but did not state if they did all the updates. So, I don't know if my bike needs additional updates. So, my question is when you update the bike with the most current update provided, does it update all things available, or do you have to go through and update each specific update available to correct each individual issue? Really not sure why the bike connects to Wi-Fi, i did connect it to my Wi-Fi, as I initially thought the bike would update itself similar to my phone apps updating themselves LOL. Thank you

Hello! The infotainment system does NOT pull updates over WIFI. Though it should and I think it could. There are 4 different updates for these new bikes. The SkyLine OS, Amplifier (these 2 can be done by the consumer), ECM and BCM ( these can only be applied by an HD Tech with a digital tech tool. I suspect your dealer would be applying the BCM and ECM updates but not necessarily the other 2 but you can verify this by going to System - Product Info - SkyLine OS version. Latest is: 240002237D To check the AMP go to the Sound menu - speaker configuration. In the AMP info screen you are looking for 1.3.8

I just messaged you about my update and no sound after oil change on stereo. I just checked my speaker sound in setting for testing and still no sound out of that either. Any suggestions? Harley dealerships are buttholes and don't take the blame for it. Please help.

Do you have a ‘23 or ‘24? Have you pulled the main fuse yet? This is where I would go with it. Pull it for a good 30 min. Email is easier to troubleshoot so just reach out: [e-mail]

I have heard the Screaming Eagle tune has been overwritten by the ECM updates. I would connect the tuner and look to verify but I don’t know for sure.

I have a question I just got my first 1000 mile oil change and they did update on my motorcycle I blutoothed my phone back up it says connected and is playing my music by I get no sound now. Would you have any idea what could be the problem?

Hello, for ECM/BCM updates there will be no updates sent out unless they result in a recall.

Thanks for keeping everyone updated. It's very frustrating to have to schedule a service appointment with the dealership every few months to keep getting these updates done. Some people are a long way from the dealership, making this a huge inconvenience.

It would be ideal to be able to apply these on our own. But I will say these are not "critical" updates so they can wait. To me Harley has fallen very short on the testing of these new bikes and I know many of us would be happy to help them!

Thanks for the video, I did find out one thing. I have the 2024 road glide standard. I had the hill hold cable added / bike flashed, so I can put the bike in neutral and let the clutch out with the hill hold still working. After both of these updates, that function no longer works. I have to hold the clutch in and the bike has to be in gear before the hill hold will work. Might want to check your bike to see if it still works after getting these updates.

Thanks for the post! I also use this in Neutral currently. This will be a bummer if this goes away as a result of the update. What's the point if you have to hold the clutch in?!?!

@@ITFZone I think with the CVO’s, and it being standard on your bike. I think that you may not have an issue because that would be a normal setting for the CVO‘s. With my standard 24 road guide, it is an add-on and the updates removed that since it was not a standard function. I’ll have to go back to the dealer and get it reactivated again.

Just had BCM done on 24 CVO SG. Now approximately every 5 miles I get the message must connect headset to connect CarPlay.

The BCM in theory would have nothing to do with the headset. But you will see this if there is no headset connected and CarPlay is turned on in your iPhone.

As always, we really appreciate your videos!! I still haven't had the M1632 Update , because after the Skyline Infotainment and Amp updates (which I did for myself with the sequence of two USB drives weeks and weeks ago), I have never again experienced the No Start issue. And I prefer starting in Neutral anyway, to lessen the demand on the starter motor (which did get some extra use with the multiple times, now long ago, when I did experience the No Start issue)...

The SkyLine OS update for sure does not help with the No Start issue but the no start issue seem to be inconsistent and not for everyone. I for sure have not had any starting issues since the M1632 update.

The updates are really fantastic! The bike is waking up now and the systems are communicating and reacting to each other so much better now. Sometimes they react a little slower than any of us would like, but they are providing the tech now that we should expect from our CVOs. I'm still having problems getting my internet hooked up to my Navigation?? I would appreciate any helpful hints on how to make my phone talk to my bike in reference to getting internet. Thanks again, for all you do. You are always so helpful

Hello! Glad your bike is working better for you. I have found no reliable solution to get the bike to connect on its own to my iPhone HotSpot. It rarely if ever connects on its own. I find turning the HotSpot off and back on in settings on my phone will get it to connect vs working through the WIFI menu on the bike.

Thank you very much for this helpfull video. My bike (Street Glide CVO 2023.5) is at the dealer since more than one week. They are not able to fix the navigation system, no maps appear on the display! Hope they will fix this issue soon. Tomorrow I will also ask for ECM/BCM Updates, hope they will update them.

If you take your bike in you will receive the latest ECM and BCM update which is cumulative to all of the updates thus far. So you will get the Crank No Start fix which worked and the new Crank with the bike in gear ( clutch in ) fix which also has worked for me. You cannot pick and choose your updates, each one is cumulative for your model. However they are all proven good fixes.

The issue with the EITMS was that the rear cylinder would not come back on and people were bringing their bikes in for issues with no power. The more and more I see about these new bikes the more and more I am so glad I got a 2023.

Got the update and done little over Hundred miles. (Stop&go) zero issues so far. Starts in gear no problem(mine did so before update also) eitms works( didn't before) can't remember anything else. But positive so far

@@philipdarnall787 a 117 with a 6 speed tranny should be able to do at least 120 if you hold that throttle wide open...My TC 103 can do 115 stock...

I had heard PowerVision had cracked the code for the new 117's but not seen anything. I do have some doubts at this point if any tuners will every come for the VVT's. The EPA may have ended the fun, at least for now.

@@ITFZone I kinda knew the answer to that before i asked....Its a Hell of thing a new bike such as yours rollin down the Interstate at 80 -90 mph without a vehicle in site and a Guy on a TC slowly rolls up on you and gets side by side and both of you gun it and you leap foward until you hit the limiter at around 100 and thats all you got and the TC catches up and walks you as he slowly pulls away farther and farther....Thats a Hell of a thing when a 10K bike does that to 50/40 or even a 30K Bikes...

I had this issue also. But it was a bad amp. Did my own troubleshooting and noted that Kept blowing my P&A fuse when amp is connected. Dealer ordered a new amp for me and let me know when it was in. Replaced same day and got sound (through speakers) again. Reason I mentioned is you do still get sound from headset since amp just routes to speakers.
