On the TCB Scans' translation, the response that that Garp gave to "All lives are equal" was "_*But*_ the potential of the youth is limitless". The _but_ in the beginning gives another dimension to the response: he is not making a statement on whether someone's life is more valuable than someone's else. This was just a choice that needed to be made because not everyone could have been saved, a marine officer isn't omnipotent after all. They might want to save everyone, but they just can't. Either a choice is made at the heat of the moment, or nobody at all gets saved. But they aren't necessarily glad of having to leave someone behind.

It's more than that. Garp is, in a real sense, saying that some lives 'are' more 'valuable' than others. But it's not a subjective, discriminatory, impractical, or even a suggestive/speculative value. It's literal value, the most value any individual has: the value of time & potential. What Garp is saying, in his expression that the youth are 'limitless,' is that time, opportunity, energy, and resources, are wasted on a person the 'older' they have become because they have less room (time on earth/in reality), for anything they create to persist and grow beyond them. Therefore, Koby is, in a sense, literally the 'future' of the marines, because if legends like Garp, Sengoku, and Tsuru are any indication, power 'can' ensure one's longevity in life, both through signs of vitality (like Luffy surviving certain death many times over), alliances with others who are strong, and being able to defend oneself, and succeed, in situations others may experience as virtually impossible to overcome - let alone survive. Furthermore, due to Koby's strength, which he adequately and spectacularly demonstrated, he is strong enough that not only can he protect his friends, associates, and fellow comrades in arms (marines), he can help to ensure that the entire world is protected. Garp saying Koby is the "future of the marines" also may mean that Koby is expected to become an Admiral, dare I say, Fleet Admiral. And with his ability to protect others, possibly being a major influence/leader in the inevitable changes/transfers of power coming to One Piece in its near future, Garp saving Koby's life means countless other lives (innocent and/or otherwise) will be saved as a consequence of Garp sacrificing his life for Koby's future (the world's future). Garp may be strong, but no one's 'strong' enough to 'survive' dying of natural causes (i.e. old age), which Garp was sure to succumb to in due time. The truth may even be more astounding than Koby's potential as an Admira/Fleet Admiral/Redefined Marines or Future World Order. Koby's first signature, devastating attack was the "Honesty Impact." That is a startling name for a move that has put him on the map as a true threat in the ranks of the marines. Remember. This story is One Piece. Of all the things people have been yearning for honesty about, what's the "One" thing people have been searching for? Well, of course, the One Piece, or rather, knowledge of the past, all along the way back to, and especially concerning, the void century. The answer to what the 'D.' means. "Honesty Impact" may be Oda's way of getting our attention as to what Koby's ultimate purpose(s) 'may' be, as, if there's been any organization responsible for keeping information about the void century hermetically sealed, it's the marines, under the command of the celestial dragons, who are under the secret rule of Imu. The World Government has maintained secrecy over the D.'s, JoyBoy, Lunarians, Fishmen, the ancient weapons, the gods, the ancient technologies that created machines so terrible they still exist and require nuclear (basically, the sun's) energy to become operable, Kozuki Toki's (Oden's wife's) forward-oriented time travel devil fruit, and so on. Not to mention, what Blackbeard's whole deal is with his inability to sleep, his ability to bear two devil fruits with no apparent drawbacks we've been capable of seeing in hundreds of chapters, how Blackbeard has a keen sense of how to obtain devil fruits, and demonstrate a conscious capability for 'predestination' that the NikaNika No Mi itself has demonstrated, with the way Blackbeard's many plans seem divine in how he's often just in the right place, at the right time, with the right (target) person, same as Luffy. All of which complicates, compounds, and creates more mystery, for what the D.'s ultimately mean.

I feel like if garp knows of vasco shots DF he might be trying to avoid him tactically. Since it's the liquor fruit than he might have the ability to disorientate opponents and make them drunk. That's definitely something you don't want to have used on you when you're trying to fight off an entire crew of power houses single handedly. Also i feel like we might see a bunch of characters use awakening and be revealed to have already had it just never used it because no one was near their level. Namely the admirals.

I recommend you watch Morj recent video on haki where he explains it. In summary, lightning is just Oda showing it's a big attack but unless characters say what it is we cannot say for sure. Imo, its a combination of strong armament, physical training and a technique like rokougan (or a variation of it, either way a combination of his rokoshiki)

How is kuzan holding back becuse he is fighting in garps style? His ice attacks didnt work o garp that why he didnt use them and for the record from what we have seen garps strongest attacks have the name galaxy in them which he never used on kuzan and still blitzed him not once but twice so you can make the same argument for garp. What if the random lady that was mad at would Garp said at the beginning of the chapter was Nami’s mom? Think about it. Not only does she look like an older Nami from that Sbs but with more grown out hair and clearly is like an assistant like person for the teacher Garp meaning she’s smart just like Nami, but also her attitude matches Nami also. What if after not being not being able to save her daughter from the battlefield, she thinks that she unfortunately died and what if she is either was offered to become a marine or wants to become a marine in order to make sure other people’s families are safe and protected? And here’s another part of that theory. What if she knows Nami is alive based off her wanted poster and the reason she hasn’t tried to communicate or acknowledge Nami, is because she doesn’t want to add more feud or news with the World Government/Navy due to Garp already being related to a member of the StrawHats? OLD AND SLOW, I still can't believe how many people didn't believe it. OP fans from what I seen are the worst for power scaling, they have no idea what they are talking about. Let me remind you. OLD AND SLOW. Garp was done the moment he decided to come without the help of the Admirals. OP fans are so dumb, they thought: Doffy had a chance against Aokiji at punk hazard. They thought Koby was gonna beat Boa. They thought Kidd had a chance against Shanks. They thought old old Garp is still gonna beat the current Yonko/Admirals. They think Mihawk and Kaido are stronger than Shanks. Let start with Kaido. Who in Kaido top 5? Who stopped Kaido from going to marineford? They still didn't get it. Now let go with Mihawk. Shanks and Mihawk from what we knows had the last duel like 10+ years ago. At the time Shanks wasn't a Yonko. Don't know if Mihawk was WSS at the time but doesn't matter. They went separate ways, Shanks went on to fight top tier guys and became a Yonko ( Shanks have big dreams, pirate king and beyond, I don't think Shanks is intressed in being WSS but that beside the point ) Mihawk now I hate to say this but probably went on to fight trash to become WSS, beside Shanks ( a haki man using a sword ) there is no top tier swordman,there just isn't. Second strongest is probably Vista. And Vista did pretty good against Mihawk, both wasn't serious but fact still stand. And we knows Vista really aren't that strong. And I stand by Shanks isn't intressed in being WSS, reason as said earlier. Bigger dream. Mihawk was probably happy with WSS. But not Shanks. Shanks since young had his eyes on the OP, pirate king. Which is a bigger and harder dream than a WSS. Which is my counter to people that says "Mihawk is WSS so he stronger" Here some more, only the people that are in the running are gonna get the title. Mihawk chased swordman getting WSS TITLE, Shanks didn't so he isn't WSS. If you not stupid then this would make 100% sense Here's why: at the moment most agree that there a very high chance that Imu is the strongest being alive. Throughout the entire series, very likely stronger than anyone, Roger, Kaido, WB, but he didn't show himself, no one knew about him. So realistically, Strongest man/creature should belong to Imu but as said. People didn't know about him. And Imu himself wasn't outthere chasing the title he doesn't have them.

Great comment only thing you have wrong is that it wasnt just shanks stopping Kaido it was Shanks and all of his commanders stopping Kaido who was with King. Kaido does have Shanks in his top 5 but he also said when was the last time someone could go toe to toe with me. My guess is Shanks flexed his haki to Kaido and Kaido found it enough to put him in that top 5 but Kaido could still be stronger or equal to Shanks cause they didnt have a 1v1 all out fight but realistically Shanks could be stronger still.
