Maybe it would help for you to be more introspective. You are a human. You change over time. Some day, no matter how lame it sounds, you will need money, people who love you, or some third thing to take care of you, as you lose your mental or physical abilities. Either that or eat like shit, then it might not matter.

I went through a similar stage about 6 months ago. I had been going out with a girl who I was convinced was the one for just over 2 years. We spent every day together after I asked her out. If we couldn't see each other we would be on the phone for hours on end so we could still hear each others voice. She felt like the only one who could make me feel happy, safe and less apprehensive for the future. We both suffered from depression (her moreso as she cut herself severely before we got together). We were always there for each other if we were having a shitty day, crying in each others arms was one of the most fond connection memories I have ever had. Trouble was I had a crippling video game addiction, which bled into my troubles prioritising things. I focused a lot on games as , for the majority of my life they kept me level headed and happy. I would be playing with my friends and laughing, it was great. It took a lot of experiences out of my life that I could have committed to. Challenges to face, new projects to start and people to meet. We decided to move out and get our own place together in the city (moving from the country). The trip to get there was long and I had yet to get a job down there so I worked back where I used to live. She took care if everything, house inspections, the real estate agent, setting up appliances etc. I just assumed "she seems more proactive to do it (and offered to do it) so that's one less thing for me to worry about." She couldn't take being on her own, when I would get back to her I would spend time with her, go for a walk on the beach or get a drink and laugh. She had a tenancy of going to sleep early. When she did this I would play video games for a couple hours and go back to bed with her. Eventually she stated that she just wasnt happy anymore. We didnt spend much time together and I never pulled my own weight. It just wasnt the life she wanted to lead anymore. She didn't have faith that I loved her anymore. This hurt but I embraced her and promised her everything will be alright and that I love her too much to merely not change my ways. She then stated "... you should have already known what you've done without hearing this". We talked for another ten minutes of me promising everything will be alright. At the end I asked if she felt better about us, she said yes. The next day I had to go home to work, for the weekend. I kissed her embraced her and gave her a brief run down that I would he back as soon as I could for her. On the Sunday (the day before j was going to go home). I got a call from her. She was done, we were going different paths and she just couldn't take it anymore. I cried on the phone saying "No matter what happens I'll always love you. You have given me the best years of my life..." I would then cry for weeks, not wanting to sleep because I would dream of her and not wanting to be awake because I would think of her. I got the rest of my stuff and moved back home with my parents, because even though she hated being alone, she was starting to like it (and had new friends and job). I was happy for her it was the start of something new. I couldn't have felt any more hopeless or guilty and shit. 2 months after we broke up she starting going out with a guy in my friend group. Dont know him well but he's popular and built from the gym. He has a large resumè of experiences. Second best was my knew banner, if I could even make second best. She blocked me from everything, as I spammed her with messages about how much I missed her (thinking with my heart and not my brain). I truly lost the greatest friend and connection I had ever received. She hates me now and cant stand my voice. My actions led her to go back to the psychologist. I'm sure you can gauge how great that made me feel. It made do the same. The moral of the story is that I used to believe that video game addiction was the reason, however after feeling the repercussions and looking back I spent tien doing other things (I.e. KZbin discord etc.). I realise that I still a child mentally with how I prioritize. This then caused the greatest pain and regret I've ever felt. Leading to thoughts of suicide, an alcohol addiction and a smoking habit (In the process of cleaning up). I'm now in a new house with my friends getting excited for my first year of university. I'm trying to be less pessimistic and learn to cope more with seeing my ex and her new man as well as just coping thinking about her at all. Thank you to whoever could tolerate reading this far. I wish you all the best. I hope if you went through something similar that you know: things can and will get better. It's the perfect time to recreate and start all of those experiences that we hadnt done and build our character. The greatest lesson I've learnt is "one must love themselves before they love someone else". Its time to learn to love yourself more (behind closed doors as well ;p) and be a better you. People appreciate when you have self worth. I wish you all the best trying to find your self worth.

I am very late to the party, but this is why I love fighting games. Those games taught me that most things I wanted to work towards took time to get good at. Talent only took you so far, after a while you would be overtaken by the person who worked harder and longer. When it came down to it, the spirit of competition was both exhilarating and crushing. It spurned us on, seeking improvement, always searching a stronger opponent. But it also can destroy and discourage if we expect an outcome for ourselves. It taught me I don't deserve anything, and nothing is guaranteed. I must work for nearly everything I want. And most important of all, it taught me that it isn't over till it's over. Until you see that K.O., until you see that "Slash!" or that "Game!" Screen, you keep on fighting.
