BE KIND - We Are All Human

Walking along a busy street in Edinburgh, my eye caught a sign resting at the feet of a man sitting on the pavement outside a posh hotel. It simply read, 'I am a human being.' It stopped me dead in my tracks. Kneeling down to take a closer look, I struck up a conversation with Sparky. And what started as a quick chat, turned into a few hours together, while Sparky shared his story with us.
We need to remember that every person, regardless of their situation, is a human being with dignity, with a name, a story, a family and a history - like all of us. We're all human.
And if you ever find yourself in Edinburgh, go have a chat with Sparky - you won't regret it. You can usually find him outside All Bar One, corner of George and Hanover Street.

You must know how much I am loving that you "saw" him and took the time to hear about his life. With a heartbreaking loss like that, it's easy to empathize with how one's life can fall apart. Thank you for sharing Sparky and his story with us and for giving us another beautiful film which opens the heart to compassion and gratitude. I don't know what your film will lead to in terms of other people meeting him or perhaps reaching out to others who are in a similar situation with at least a "hello", but here's what I know for sure: in giving him the opportunity to tell his story, you directly contributed to his healing in ways no one will ever be able to see or know. Thank you so much for making this video, and taking the time to share his story. Our son worked in a homeless shelter for many years, and when I heard the stories of these angels from him, it broke my heart. Each person has a different story of what happened in their lives to make them homeless...and people just need to stop treating them like they are less than human. We could all, so easily, be in their shoes. Periodically, I start up a collection thru my facebook page with all of my friends and family, asking for blankets, socks, shoes, coats, hats, gloves, etc. to donate to this shelter. Little things that everyone takes for granted in their lives, make a huge difference. I'm a soap maker, so I donate soaps, lotions and lip balms, too. We all have something we can do to make a difference, we just need to do it....

His very honest sharing, with no attempt to seek sympathy - he accepts full responsibility for his situation - it touched me on a very emotional level. Sitting beside him on the pavement over our two days together while filming this story, we got a first hand idea of what it feels like to feel so insignificant, ignored, scorned. We judge so easily. We make assumptions. And so often these are wrong. If we only all practiced a little more empathy... I wish I could send you tons of money,so you could keep makeing your videos.but then also help people that you come a cross that need help.if they want help.to give them help the way they want an d need it so they really recover from it eventually. The universe will always support u guys in lots of ways cause everyone is telling their truth.it helps me every day to watch these videos.i had covid last year and now I lost everything but found the YWCA of white plaines new york.now I can afford to rent a place here.they listened and helped me,and I'm here recovering from divorce and loss.i can finally grieve after looseing everything 5 times before I found this place that I could stay and settle and rebuild my life.the most brutal horrible things I had to go through.and I was homeless for one day.none of my old friends would help.divorce is a terrible thing you loose your whole recent life.the police dumped me in an ally.the hospital turned me away.A very kind fireman helped me.or I would be dead now.there are always new possibilities when the old ones dont work out.you just have to learn to get out of the old mold of thinking the old ways.then you can write your own original life who and what u were supposed to be doing.my face was cracked open.i had to heal inside an d out .now finally I have a place where I can heal.i had a house a family and a car.pets everything a life for 21 years.and then adam Lanza killed the children in Newtown ct.in america and my ex was traumatized by it and wouldnt get help so he got violent and mean.i had to leave to save my life.you never know when your life is going to change.live everyday to the best of your ability.love with every ounce of your being.most people dont like it ,but that's who I am .I am made of love how can I do anything else.thats how I know I will find my real purpose.unfortuneatly you have to get down to the bottom to find yourself.ive been healing my whole life.from my childhood and everything else along the wAy.im a loveing gypsy artist.i will find my purpose shortly I can feel it.i shine like all of you in all your videos.when I watch them I feel normal. Thankyou.i fit in with the people you film.and that's a good start.bless you all.
