Julius Caesar plotting to take over Rome be like:
@esmeraldagreen1992
@esmeraldagreen1992 4 жыл бұрын
Ostensibly Junius Brutus and his cohorts assassinated Julius Caesar in order to prevent him from destroying the republic by making himself king, it was a takeover by the elite who effectively stopped Caesar from enacting a series of reforms that would have curtailed the power of that very elite, the high ranking super wealthy senators and magistrates of the time. Caesar's assassination instead of freeing the Roman people, who were pretty free for the time period resulted in their enslavement. Octavius, Caesar's nephew and heir, took over Rome and made himself emperor. Cives, citizens became subjects, Rome, the empire and the citizens became the property of the emperor and the citizens lost all the rights they had since the founding of the republic. SPQR (Senatus populusque Romanus), the Senate and the people of Rome, became ISQR (Imperator senatusqe Romanus)

It should be written “qui pro quo” and it’s like using “which” instead of “what” in a wrong way.The meaning of this phrase is misunderstanding. So you can say: we had a “qui pro quo” , and you are saying that you and another person did not understand each other. In English it is use incorrectly to say “I do something for you if you do something to me” but the Latin phrase with this meaning is “do ut des”

@@martinnet82 Redeunt Saturnia regna is a direct quote from Vergil's georgics, meaning the reign of Saturn returned-- the Romans believed that several generations before the present, there was a golden age under which no one worked or suffered, and Saturn/Cronus governed it. Sine fine potestas is modified quote from Vergil's Aeneid, the original was "imperium sine fine" Both roughly means power without limit.

Ngl that description was intimidating but after researching the terms mentioned I understand it and appreciate the work that went into this ēgrēgia translation a lot more.

For a competition in high school I endeavoured to try and learn four Disney songs, each in a different language. This one I did in German (Seid Bereit 😁). Listening to this stuff is a dream, so cool mate!

I think it would've been interesting to have the hyaenas speak in a more Vulgar or Ecclesiastical pronunciation, but very good!

Why ecclesiastical?
@aster965
@aster965 4 жыл бұрын
@@madscientist7430 Just to give some sense of being lower than the Classical-speaking King. I only said Ecclesiastical since I believe the pronunciation of Vulgar is fairly unknown.

This is amazing. I've studied latin for some time for some university exams but eventually couldn't accomplish much and gave up. But damn, everything in latin is so cool, and this is the first time I actually hear something using the classical pronunciation! Makes me so happy.
