Great review. However it seems many reviewers have missed a key point when it comes to the PSU mounting position . The reason it has been moved forward is so the height of the motherboard tray can be adjusted. There are two removable grills just above the proprietary power connector, that can be moved to the top of the rear. This allows for 3 different positions of the motherboard tray to accommodate large radiators at the top of the case or dual GPU's above the shroud. I've dropped mine one level just to help cover the headers on lower end of my motherboard for a cleaner look. Anyway, still a great review. Even the biggest channels on KZbin have not figured this out. Lol

Fair enough. But if you'll permit a question from at total newb: how does the PSU then "breathe"? The intake fan seems to be covered by lots of metal plating, and the exhaust grille is no longer blowing directly out. What am I not seeing here?

Great review I rarely see my case being reviewed. I absolutely love it. I built a monster gaming rig and wasn't sure if I wanted to spend that much money on a case, but I got to tell you it really is worth it. It has plenty of room obviously, with a bunch of options and it really helps keep everything cool.

@@chancemartin4663 I have a 9900k oc to 5.0GHz 2080ti that's oc and a kraken 360. I have almost a dozen fans and it's very quiet to the point I don't even think about it because I never hear it. Unless I am bench testing to max and all fans come on full rpm which I can hear, but that is very rare, 95% of the time it will ramp up the fans for a couple of seconds and then you don't hear them again because it cools that well and that quickly. That's my experience. I hope it helps.

I plan to go with this case as my first build because you can easily take the entire thing out, you can add extra 3.5 hard-drive bays if you want too, the disk drive, and the case is huge for a gpu. As someone who loves to take their pre-built apart and having to upgrade it, this case is something I was eyeing on for.

6:28 It is one of the cases biggest design flaws. There are mounting areas for two bottom intake fans but one of them is partially blocked by the power supply. Also the cables running out of the power supply also get in the way of this bottom intake fan provided the power supply is small enough that a fan can even be fitted there. This makes no sense since additional fans are most needed in a system that generates a lot of heat which is also a system that draws a lot of power from a large power supply. The power supply should be all the way at the back. if anything it should have a mounting bay at the back of the case to move it back even further. The case needs to be an inch or two taller so that a water cooler can be fitted at the ceiling. without the fans colliding with the motherboard as it is currently the case. I had to move the fans on top of the ceiling where they are right up against the roof with a gap between the roof and the fan of only half an inch. That is not optimal for airflow.

Thanks for the review. 👍 I built my gaming rig in the original (all black) Dark Base Pro 900 back in early 2017, and I love it to the MOON. I've never been clear on their reasoning for the PSU placement, but it hasn't caused any issues with my build. That said, my aging ASUS ROG STRIX Z270-E Gaming motherboard died very recently, so I've decided that it's time for a brand new build. I don't want to shell out $$$ for a Rev 2.0 case though (because I *will* be needing a front panel USB Type-C port 🙄), so I contacted Be Quiet customer support and asked them if I could obtain a Rev 2.0 I/O panel and it turns out that, for a mere $15.99 + shipping, they're willing to send me one. They also let me know that the Rev 2.0 fan hub and LED strips are different, so I've asked them to include those as well. Color me *Stoked!* 🤗

@theone3204 жыл бұрын
I just got mine. I love it. But I also do not get the advantage of mounting the PSU like it is. The mounting position of the PSU also slightly covers the intake fan on my PSU (Corsair HX1000i). I am also missing a detailed overview of all the screws in the case with number and position in the manual, as there are a lot of different screws while inverting and you will have to remember which screws go where. There is a lot of space in the back for cable management, but I miss the dedicated cable channels that some modern cases have.
@fab6720004 жыл бұрын
@@theone320 Not sure about the PSU location, but mechanically speaking, I could see two reasons: one is the better location where now your cables (especially the mobo main supply large one) are more proximal to mobo connectors. Also, if you move the unit or simply vibrations; another small advantage could be the weight is better distributed around the center. Just me thinking, nothing I could read / confirm yet.

Planning on getting this with the dark rock pro 4 cooler to go with it. I have a black and orange asthtetic going on so this would fit perfectly!. Been looking for for something clean looking that has good airflow, and it seems the stock fans that come with it are probably better then the ones that came with my r8. I can just imagine how much cooler and quieter everything will be compared to my r8 with stock fans and cooler. I dig that wireless charging feature too, so I can just place my phone down on it when I need to charge it instead of plugging it in somewhere else. Seems like a pretty solid case!.

big question is it a good dust proof case ?
@facelesshalo51744 жыл бұрын
The power supply confusion. I THINK I know why they put it in the midle of the case. A power supplies fans can make noise, so the further away from any open vents means less noise. That's the only reason I can imagine the power supply being in the middle.

Looks like a great case. but where does the psu draw cool air from with the cover on?
@Wigglythegreat23 жыл бұрын
There is mesh and a dust filter below where the power supply mounts, so I guess it draws cool air from the side vents at the bottom of the case. I have the Be Quiet 802 and it's a different setup with the whole bottom vented and filtered, but this one looks to have sufficient airflow for any power supply in the bottom. My 850 watt corsair barely uses the fan to be honest and it seems to almost always be off which is a feature. It's one of the reasons I got a bigger power supply than a needed, in general use the fan isn't needed and is at zero rpm.

I ordered this case for a video rendering machine along with the Dark Power Pro 12 power supply. However believe it or not Be Quiet's dark power 12 power supply doesn't fit in this case without getting additional parts from Be Quiet!. I submitted a ticket in November and they said they requested the parts from their home office in Germany but still do not have them now. Aside from this though the case is very high quality, modifiable, and huge amounts of air flow space.

@@meocatsthis case is suppose to have some of the better airflow for a case. What kind of experience did you have with it? And being a huge waste of space is all dependant on the amount of space that you have for your set up. Obviously if you're space is limited, then you'll steer away from this one. There are, big and small cases, but having a huge chassis can be an upside because you have more space to work with in there and you have more options for bigger and better internals.
