As a Fench myself I was disappointed for sure, but also sad to hear the booing on the finish line. I don't know what they saw of the last lap on the finish line, but I was astonished by how brilliant the last attack from Tom was, No way in hell I'd ever boo that kind of racing, especially after the 40 seconds puncture he had. Absolute winner.

This has been the finest gold medal performance of the games so far. Overcoming a puncture, a very strong French competitor and the hostile 15,000 strong french crowd the race looked all but lost. However you spotted the chance, attacked and won the line at which point the determined French rider realised you had won! Well done Tom, you showed true grit and determination to defend your Olympic title. Fantastic!

I was there. The cheering and celebrations when Tom punctured was unbelievable, it was disgusting - other nationalities found it disgusting too. The French were already celebrating the win because Tom was so far behind at that point. I've been to so many races, WC's, London 2012 etc, never experienced this and the booing. My friend was at the Rugby and the French fans were booing there too.

That is the best gold winning comeback I’ve ever seen on a bike, or any event probably, starts mid field on the start and claws back to the lead, then punctures and drops 40 seconds and claws back to the leader and then onto win. Sorry but Koretzky was given enough head starts so should have capitalised on it. Pidcock is just mind blowing. Shame on the French crowd for booing.
