17:37 1 is read as 'ichi' in Japanese, so these ghosts likely belong to Shunichi Shirai, who is credited in Course Design.

@@beanzard64 I just wanna say as someone who has spent way too much time on these ghosts the best driven one is moo moo meadows or rainbow raod I beat every esg with their own viechle back when I use to Wii wheel for fun and the moo moo meadows ghost uses automatic and for auto it’s very fast but Yh from beating each esg with a kart to their own viechles to with Wii wheels I’ve spent to much time on it

I think the main issue with this challenge is that a lot of the expert ghosts use outside drift bikes and karts, which your not really used to as much as inside drift bikes.

Case in point: The really impressive Rainbow Road expert staff ghost using the Jetsetter of all vehicles.

@@albireo2990that one is still very impressive though, the jet setter is such a bad kart that it must have taken a long time for them to get the run, which kinda fits with it being the last retro track (also obviously it can be cheesed with flame flyer and moon jump but I’m sure most of us when we were younger didn’t go for moon jump).

Actually the main issue is that speed is such an important Stat, it completely crushes anything else. As a kid I couldn't beat almost any ghost times. 10 years later, I used flame runner funky Kong and did all ghosts in less than 3 attempts

Bro the rainbow road time trial ghost has to be the hardest, it took me 2 hours of trying to play the course perfectly to beat it and then i tried using the unintentional shortcuts. IT STILL TOOK ME ANOTHER HOUR TO BEAT IT

bro i had nightmares with that time trial. I was trying to beat it when i was still 9 or 10 yo and i remember doing all the strats i knew like the moon jump and the jump on the curve before the canyon and i still was so damn far behind the ghost. It really surprises me when i look at the record i got at the end

On Dk Mountain you beat the ghost even by falling at the end bcs you took the gap cut at the end I guess you didn't even noticed since that cut is more natural to take than the normal route.

There's Inside drift, Outside drift bikes, Karts, and Spear drift

I think the main problem is that you just aren't good with outside drift/karts, bc whenever you have a bike you seem to dominate the staff ghosts but with the karts you make a ton of dumb mistakes and have bad lines

Yeah, I main inside drift bikes. Even then though, some of those were pretty tough (like Ghost Valley 2).

He’s not that bad, they always fly off to the side and are kind of hard to control

@@slitheredboyz Nah, he definitely made a lot of mistakes that kart-maining 10 year old me wouldn't have made. (I was good for a kid but not insane, practice with outside drift really makes the difference. I couldn't use inside drift to save my life then even if it was objectively better for most maps.)

Honestly imo, it's more fun to play against the staff ghosts with the same characters to get the a good challenge. Using the most META pair is kind boring because you're so much better just because of stats It's more interesting that way. Although I admit i often choose not to use the same vehicle as the ghost, but same character

I think a major problem is, people are trying to do this in one attempt. Realistically speaking, the Devs probably failed a lot before finally getting a good run in each of them, so realistically taking like 10 attempts is realistic. I'll say though, the Ghost Valley one is absolutely bonkers and I have NO idea how a dev could get a good time on it, and that too with King Boo.

For me, the hardest retro track ghost is the SNES Mario Circuit 3, I could never beat it as a kid.

the wild wing is one of the best/worst karts at the same time, it's outside drift feels nice and responsive but it's accel is one of the worst ever, *this is why mach bike/flame runner is better*

All 3 of the vehicles listed have horrible acceleration. That literally does not matter in this game. Mach and Flame aren’t better because of acceleration, its because of inside drift

@beanzard64 For DS Yoshi Falls, drift in the first waterfall, use the mushroom at the second waterfall, and avoir the third water fall.

I've beaten all these ghosts, nitro and retro, copying their driving styles as much as I can, several times in the past. Takes LOTS of tries and knowing the vehicles, obviously.

i dont know why but I only got mii outfit b sometime last year. ghost valley 2 was incredibly hard for some reason. I also thought I only had rainbow road left so when I finally beat it and didnt get the outfit I was so confused

all the people saying ghost valley is hard for staff ghost, depends on what you're using. With the flame runner it's kinda just an easy first try with a few seconds to spare.
