Shame is the main thing I see. It's as if he had become so comfortable from climbing up there there so many times in the past, he didn't even stop to check to see if anyone was already up there. One he heard the human voice he was like, "Oh no, now he knows it was me using his stuff." He was embarrassed. This emotional response is so funny to me!

This video was takin during bow season. I have had many interactions with black bears in the north east during fall bow season. I have walked up on a sow with cubs and I have been followed out of the woods back to my truck by a huge male one evening in the dark. They are super curious animals. If they scent you they will come and investigate. If they get too close a stern "get outta here bear" is normally all it takes to get them to walk away. Good job keepin your cool.

I can relate to this one. Last Fall I found myself in a tree stand with a baby bear cooing in my ear. Little bugger was keeping pace with me coming down the tree. I wasn't sticking around to find out where mamma bear was. I got on the ATV and booked it out of there in 5th gear.

There are many animals in both North America and Europe that live among bears and that are much more vicious and dangerous than bears (wolves, wolverines, big cats...) Bears are mainly herbivores and because of that, hunting and killing are not their primal means of getting food.

this was funny, the bear was so cute how it just backed off and left. a lot of Black Bears are like that. They are not too aggressive. A slap on the nose will send them off usually. Grizzlies are the ones you need to watch out for.

'LOVE this video SO much! Just rediscovered it via cleaning out old email folders. A friend had sent me this back in 2011 - what a joy to watch it again! Gorgeous, shiny, healthy looking bear. And! just another reminder of one, how very curious the black bear are and two, how MOST times - they do not want any confrontation. Generally speaking, as others have mentioned before, they are shy creatures... They do NOT see us a food. 'SO many lies and myths perpetuated about all creatures from people who simply don't know critters. Oh they THINK they know these creatures, reality is, no they do not. lol black bears are actually really mellow when they are well fed and happy he most likely could have pet it's nose and the bear would have just sniffed him, after all the only reason the b ear climbed the tree is because the guy most likely had deer scent on him to mask his natural scent. It's no wonder the bear freaked out lol he was expecting a deer and got a weird furless white thing. :P

This happened to me when I was 13 years old. I was just bow hunting and I didn't have a cell phone yet, so when the bear climbed my tree I just sat there scared to death and did not move a muscle. Luckily after a few min it just climbed back down to its cub (It having a cub scared me the most) and walked away...
