Good advice, I began growing in November and managed to get 60 days into a 90 day challenge with great results, and one little seed of second guessing myself on new year's eve was enough to result in my shaving it off. I started watching this and immediately made like two brash comments in a row about how this guy is stupid for talking about beards when he doesnt currently have one, then I continued to watch and was intrigued, continued some more, deleted my shitty comments, watched a little longer and was inspired.This dude does not need to have a beard at all times in order to be an expert on the topic and he goes far beyond just "growing a beard" in what he is talking about here. not trying to get all dramatic here but his message really truly goes so far beyond growing a beard. it has to do with self image as a man or young man coming of age, dealing with others perception of what THEY think you should look like and learning to disregard that and be true to yourself and exhibiting whatever image you choose for yourself at that time and the value of making mistakes and learning from it. These are are just such important things for any man to be aware of. my shitty comments will never be seen my anyone because I deleted them but I still feel like an ass for writing them. this guy is really a pretty cool person and worth listening to.

Two years ago Beard Brand launched the yeard with Jack Miloco. I began on that journey at that time also. I participated in the program even posted a photo of my beard for evaluation. That was 27 months ago. To date no length has been removed, only a few wild hairs have been trimmed with scissors and the cheek line have been evened by a professional beard barber. At this time my beard had reached 16 inches measured from my lower lip. At the present my plans are "to let 'er grow."

In general, I agree about not shaving the neckline and cheek lines early on. However, mine comes in pretty good in exactly two weeks. I use a beard ninja beard tool to line up my neckline. My cheeks have a natural 'line' in them when I bend my head sideways and I go by that when lining them up.

Love it, I’m 20 and I’m trying to grow a beard and so far my upper lip and chin grow the best so I’m rocking somewhat of a circle beard until my sides catch up. I’m just gonna rock with what I got and what looks best right now. My middle portion of my mustache will probably fill all the way in, in a couple months. I didn’t even think I could grow what I have right now until I actually grew it out past a month. Now I surprised everyone I know and they’re wondering where it came from. In the beginning, it wasn’t all positive and remarks but I told them hey bear with me, I’m trying to grow it out. I’m pleased with what I have right now but I’m certainly not done growing. I’ve really only been growing for almost 2 months. Been shaving the sides though.
@AsTheWheelsTurn4 жыл бұрын
looks good to me from what I can see in the little thumbnail pic. at 20 you have a good look going, I just had a thin mustache and a goatee at that age then as time went by more came in enough that I could let it grow without it looking too thin and scraggly. I think you are on the right track with the idea of working with what you have at the moment and shaving the thin areas at the sides and whatnot. nothing wrong with a goat and stach especially younger dudes look good that way. I am 41 now and the full beard works for me, but it didn't always.

Eric, I have to ask, is this really you being yourself in this video? Or are you acting? This video felt like you were trying to be somebody you are not. You sound different, step around like you are uncomfortable, move your head in unnatural ways. Might be weird to throw your own advice back at you, but be yourself. I could be wrong of course. It might also be because you shaved off the beard and you feel different. Maybe its just me.
