My first time Kayaking and this Kayak held strong. kzbin.infoUgkx4k5UrhC3v_Y4hIEaXLGvHcN5a5aBmZNB The water got pretty rough as a speed boat zipped by me, and the Kayak withstood it (I expected to be capsized). The Ores are very easy to put together, the pump worked beautifully. the seats are a bit hard to sit in after a while (I recommend sitting on the floor). after reading the reviews I was very scared it'd get a hole in it, the material is very strong and durable. The Air valve may need a small Phillips head screwdriver to adjust, other than that, it's well worth the money!(update)I've gone Kayaking in 3 Lakes and 2 rivers totaling about 40 miles. the kayak had two holes and they patched easily and no other problems can't wait for kayaking season this year!

What water depth is required to safely operate the power drive? Also I fish the White River in Arkansas which has frequent shallow ripples - will the motor assembly flip up quickly enabling the craft to skim over rocks?
@BeardedDadFishing Жыл бұрын
I didn’t measure how low the motor drops, but I’d say you should be good in 16” of water. If it gets shallower, you can quickly bring the prop up to avoid hitting anything.

Another great one Jay. Personally I like your longer yak better, but thats just from what I see. If I was on it, I might feel differently. Anyway, as always, I love your vids. Keep up the great content.

You know I'm a fan of 10 footers and this thing looks ALMOST as awesome as my Lifetime Teton 100 Angler 😂 I love that rod storage. That's unheard of in shorter boats. Pretty cool how it comes prepped for a gas motor as well. Trolley is a nice feature. I would definitely use that low setting on the seat when the waves pick up on LSC. Gotta stay low when that happens. The option to move the seat that far forward is something I've never seen before. Would be GREAT for days when you want to keep a certain species because you could throw a cooler in there just for that. Looking forward to the stability test. Great review.
@BeardedDadFishing Жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching Bryan! Agreed on all those points. I can see the low setting being helpful on those choppy days. And Moving the seat that far forward really does open the doors for coolers, catch bags, etc.

YOUR JOKES ARE GREAT, LOL I'm still on the fence about a kayak. I have a 12' Lowe Sea Nymph, but it doesn't feel stable when I stand up in it..... it rocks. I think what I need is a Jon Boat, but still have questions, Jon vs Kayak vs my boat...... I'm so confused. Great video, very informative.... keep 'em coming.

So I got two of these and your video was super helpful. Any tips of storing the wheels on the boat when you go out?

Congrats brother! Glad it was helpful! I’ve been taking my wheels back to the truck, however, I can totally see making them fit on the kayak crate somehow. They aren’t too heavy which is great.

He BD! I just came across this Jonnybass and I was really taken with it. There have been questions about how this may take away from kayaking, because it is sort of outside the parameters of a kayak. To me, there are many injured, damaged folks out there,p who want to fish in a boat. This may well be the answer.

Agreed! There’s options for everyone. I’ve used my Jonny Bass several times and am always surprised at its stability packed in a small package.

Nice review! I've been eyeing the Bass 100 for a while, I was hoping they would eventually drop a 12' (there were rumors a while back). I live on the CA coast and want something for both fresh and salt water, the 10' makes me nervous about the salt even in pretty calm areas... In your opinion, you think it's better to just stick to the lakes and ponds? Thanks!
@BeardedDadFishing Жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! Once the weather warms up I’ll be taking it out in some water and doing stability testing. I don’t have a ton of salt water experience so I couldn’t tell you with any certainty. Come out to the east coast and try mine out 😂

Huh. I expected that to be at least twice as expensive as it is. I'm on the website right now and the whole kit, kayak+motor+rudder (no battery) is $1400. Still way out of my price range, but far cheaper than I expected. I really like the idea of a 10' kayak that's stable and has a good weight capacity. Being on the taller, and a bit on the heavier side (6'4", 275), it's hard to find something affordable that can hold me and not be tippy, but also not cost a fortune. I wonder how it paddles. The base version with the storage pod is appealing, but if this moves through the water like a brick... That may not work for me with how windy it is in my area. I'm often paddling into pretty stiff winds, my current kayak (Lifetime Stealth) barely handles it. I have to really muscle my way a lot of the time.
@BeardedDadFishing Жыл бұрын
It’s absolutely a banger value. Can’t touch it with much else in the market. It paddles like a bathtub though so I’d highly recommend the steerable motor.
@Brunnen_Gee Жыл бұрын
@@BeardedDadFishing Ah, that's what I figured. Bummer. Adding the motor puts it far out of my price range. Even the base model is pushing it. Why did I have to get involved in a crazy expensive hobby...
@GerForever Жыл бұрын
Cool video. The boat claims 400lb capacity. The sticker at the back says 250lbs or one person. @5:22 Once you have the motor on this boat what is left for a person?
@BeardedDadFishing Жыл бұрын
Hard to say. The 250lb can be a coast guard type of approval or seat capacity 🤷🏽♂️ but I’d say the 400# is pretty accurate. I’m 240 plus gear and motor and I felt really stable.
@GerForever Жыл бұрын
@@BeardedDadFishing Awesome thanks. With a lead acid battery or LiPo I am a bit heavier but would go with a lighter battery than a lead acid and I don't fish. Just photos. Also, Do you think the steerable motor is better or fixed and steer with the rudder?
@BeardedDadFishing Жыл бұрын

I sent a question to feel free about whether or not that pod on the jonny bass 100 fould be replaced with the feel free pedal drive. I got no response, So do you know can I convert this guy to a pedal kayak?
@BeardedDadFishing6 ай бұрын
I don’t have a pedal drive with me to give it a shot, however my initial guess is that it won’t fit without major modifications to the drive. It would also fit too far away from the seat to be comfortable.
@pmm4226 ай бұрын
@@BeardedDadFishing thanks for the info, the seat wouldn't be a problem I would be able to get around that but I would want the pedal drive to be some what designed to drop in.

I had a Feel Free Kayak and found it to be awful. Super heavy. Gravity Seat nuts and bolts kept backing out. Their 8-Ball steering system is terrible as the cable kept fraying. The whole fishing package seemed like it was an afterthought to just a recreational Kayak. Never do anything Feel Free again.

The placement of that cart is the worst place you could have it you will feel every pound in that boat when walking to the water, no good !
@BeardedDadFishing Жыл бұрын
I agree that the extreme stern of the boat is not ideal for the cart. I would use this for shorter trips to the launch, rather than longer distances.
