Day one in New York...more specifically, Long Island...and I'm at a famous ice cream parlour by the name of Krisch's, taking on their notorious Kitchen Sink Challenge!
Over 150 brave individuals have attempted the feat, but only 4 have succeeded. With 60 minutes on the clock, your task is to sink a literal kitchen sink's worth of ice cream, waffles, fruit, whipped cream and sprinkles. Succeed and it's a free meal, a winner's t-shirt and a coveted spot on the wall of fame. Lose and it's $49.95 and a minor case of frostbite for your troubles!

MY PODCASTS:
@BreakingBreadPD - A good old fashioned chin wag with my co-host Josh Gudgeon, in a studio that looks so plush it makes it look like we know what we're doing.
@MovieMouthfuls - Frankly amateurish chit-chat loosely discussing famous eating scenes from movies and television shows.

ANSWERS TO COMMON QUESTIONS & ADDITIONAL INFO:
Q: How come you don’t get fat?
A: I eat like this for 1 hour of a 168 hour long week. In simple terms, I eat at caloric maintenance over the course of time, meaning I don’t gain weight. If you're interested in learning more, see the ‘But How Come You're Not Fat' and 'It Was Just A Normal Day...' videos available on my channel.
Q: Don’t you worry about your health?
A: Not in particular. I’m active. I eat nutrient dense foods five days a week. And, I get quarterly bloods done, amongst other health checks.

Can I blame the jet lag? I’m blaming the jet lag :| Greetings all and welcome to the first episode from my adventures in Long Island. This video series will run through most of December and I had a great time shooting it all, so I hope that you enjoy it! Thank you so much as always for watching, and I’ll be back with the bit well and truly between my teeth in the next episode this Thursday at 7pm UK time! :)

2:58 I'm not sure if I missed it's mentioned in the video, but that metal dish under the "kitchen sink" is obviously full of ice to keep the ice cream cold and from melting. Assuming it's not against the rules, simply removing it would make this challenge alot easier.

I think Randy did a similar challenge where it was a bucket of ice cream and he really struggled and I think it was a good bit smaller than that. I think the best way to eat all that is to eat 10 mins then take a 5 min break (if the rules allow). You were a good 70% done after 30 mins.

Krisch's is a short drive from my house. That Kitchen Sink Challenge has been around for many, many years. It's just as described here by the staff in this video. It's tough because it's so much sugar and milkfat, and it's so COLD. When you walk into Krisch's, you see a couple of those kitchen sinks on a shelf, waiting for some hapless fool to think they can do that. It's a cruel joke. Adam is no stranger to New York food challenges, but that much ice cream? I feel ill just thinking about it. Who other than Adam would be as honest and forward about having to pause to take an explosive lower end evac during a food challenge? Attempting that challenge was the folly of man. Adam was beaten mercilessly by a children's frozen dessert. Correction: He was beaten by 20 children's frozen desserts. Who can blame the guy?

I actually much prefer watching the challenges that are made for the average joe and seeing how fast you can do them in comparison to a “normal person” I feel a lot of places nowadays are taking it too far with the amount they are asking to be consumed and employing sometimes underhand tactics. Good effort though.

Your thinking on heat transfer is backwards. The metal sink literally acts like a heat sink. When you want something to stay the same temp (keep it cool or keep it hot) metal is absolutely the worst material you could use. Nothing (a vacuum) on the other hand is very insulating, this is why pricey metal mugs exist, it is the airtight vacuum seal that keeps your food the same temp. This is why radiators/air conditioners/heat exchangers are made from METAL for rapid heat transfer any why mugs and soup bowls are made from ceramic (or why the space shuttle had ceramic tiles as a heat shield instead of having it made entirely out of metal. ) Touch a metal surface at room temperature compared to a clay brick (a type of ceramic) at room temp or your soft rug all at the same temp. Obviously the metal will "feel colder" because metal will "suck out the heat" from you at a faster rate than a carpet or a brick.

Oh man, this is so funny! The look on his face of defeat. However when I check out the Randy's video, there is no second sink underneath and also if you get a regular spoon, it should be much easier.

Funny, because I've thought watching Beard's many attempts that it is not something an IBS sufferer could even contemplate. So I can relate to his dilemma. But when yer gotta go, yer gotta go. It's a decision only you can make!

My hometown's (now closed) Ice Creamery had not 1 but 2 kitchen sinks, they were for children's parties, but I had heard of someone trying the regular one as a food challenge. The Regular Kitchen Sink contained 1 scoop of each of the 24 ice flavours they had, 1/2 pound of whipped cream, choice of multiple toppings (the sweet sauces that you put on ice cream, I don't know what they called in England) and 1/2 or 1/4 fresh fruit (bananas, strawberries, passionfruit pulp etc) and the Large Kitchen Sink was double everything.

That sink was impressive and very well thought of. It was a monstrous challenge. The only other way to have eaten all that ice cream was to have scooped it out using a mug. That would have been faster. Good try. Looking forward to the next one

Awesome vid as always. Was the sink double stacked intentionally? Was there ice in the sink below keeping the ice cream sub zero adding to the difficulty of the challenge? On to the next one. Really enjoy the international series!! LETS GET IT!!!
