Bearly Buried | S-Rank, No Powers, No Map | Dark Deception v1.9.6

In this video, I show off my S-Rank playthrough of Dark Deception's Bearly Buried level without using the tablet. This includes not using the tablet's powers or using the tablet's map, with the only exceptions being in zones 2 & 3 where you need to use Primal Fear to take the Ring Pieces from the Trigger Teddies, in the 2nd boss fight where you need to use Primal Fear to defeat Mama Bear, after the 2nd boss fight where Teleport is needed to get past the pit and obtain the final secret, and also during the escape sequence where you need to use Speed Boost to get past the speed barrier.
I'll summarise the totals here:
• Primal Fear 6x
• Teleport 4x
• Speed Boost 1x
The tablet had to be opened up during certain sections of this playthrough in order to switch powers. The tablet was forcefully opened up automatically here: 1:40
During the results screen, I mentioned that I couldn't decide whether or not this challenge was harder than the one for Mascot Mayhem. After uploading this video, I now realise that this challenge for Bearly Buried was harder in almost every single way.

Fun fact: When I was grinding this challenge, I would usually play at night so I could see the game better. However, the attempt shown in this video (the one where I actually succeeded in getting an S-Rank) was done during the daytime, so I couldn't really see anything on my screen too well! My intentions were to get a little practice in before I started playing for real later that evening, but ended up beating the challenge anyway when I wasn't expecting! 😆

What a tremendous achievement this was! I considered this level to be impossible without powers at first, but this definitely shows that it is indeed possible to complete with an S Rank even. My biggest congrats to you, Sharkfan2! Seeing what astonishing accomplishments you have done in all the different Dark Deception levels, I'd love to see what approach you'll go for in Torment Therapy, if you plan to play it that is. I did it with Teleport Only and with Map, but I'm very much certain that you could do it even more extreme than that. I'm also a fan of commentating your progress and process through the various different levels, your strategies and tips. Torment Therapy really is tormenting though, I can guarantee you that.

Yeah, Torment Therapy is going to be... something else. That might actually be the level that will break me. Dark Deception: Map Master VIII. “WHERE ARE ALL THESE BEARS COMING FROM?” (Serious note) This is SERIOUSLY impressive. This level is long, hard and that is with powers. To do this with no powers, no tablet AND get an S-Rank is just ASTOUNDING. Insane to see just how much people improve at games the longer they have no content updates with them. Kind of makes me wish someone would upload another community challenges video with challenges the community could do without mods (like how Angelo uploaded a video like that 3 years ago) To conclude: insanely impressive. My experience is the hardest part in my no tablet challenge is stucked by some steps in zone 3 when being chased by trigger teddy and the uncertainty of trigger teddys' location also caused by this bug.

@@user-wb7tc9cg2l I agree, this bug gave me a lot of trouble too. This is what makes Zone 3 so much more difficult than Zone 2 in my opinion, because you cannot manipulate the movement of the teddies as easily. In Zone 3, I was eventually able to memorise where I could get stuck on the steps, and sometimes use them to my advantage against the teddies, such as the steps here 49:05. Anyway, thank you! 🙂 S-Ranking this level without the map, no telekinesis, and no deaths is a very impressive feat!

Did you mention that you managed to beat it, S-Rank without powers or the tablet? Were you able to record it or anything? I'd love to see how it's even possible. 🙂 Zone 1 is an actual nightmare. Zone 2 doesn't seem as bad because the nurses aren't very good at moving to the upper platforms.

If you throw lots of rocks on the floor near the acid pits, when Mama Bear pokes her head out of it, the rocks might hit her. If the rocks manage to hit her 3 times in one go, you can defeat her from the very first phase! I demonstrate this in my 253 Bugs/Issues video. Yes, I demonstrate it in one of my Bugs/Issues video, but I'll try and explain it for you... First, you need to wait for at least 3 rocks to spawn before hitting Mama Bear. There's a blind spot you can use here 22:08. When you have enough rocks, place them all together in one of the corners where Mama Bear pokes her head out. After that, move away from that area, because Mama Bear won't do it if you're close. Then, all 3 rocks will hit her at once if you place them correctly, ending the boss fight instantly from the first phase. You can wait for more rocks to spawn if you want a better chance for this to work.

Yes, I do have a few suggestions which could help. The first part where you don't have any powers might be the hardest, because you cannot sprint at all or you will be killed by the sleeping teddies. There's only 1 teddy which is active, so you always need to listen/look for it (but listening for it is much better). In this video, I lured it over to me so I could get around it 1:09. The teddies have a short attention span, so that's why this can work. But you won't always be able to do this if the teddy is in a different part of the zone. If you hear or see the teddy on the left from where I was standing in the video. you should be able to just walk forwards straight away, although there's always a chance that the teddy will come around the corner and follow you from behind. When this happens, there's nothing you can do. For the next part where you have Invisibility, it's a lot easier because you can now sprint and abuse the new power which you have. I think there are 4 active teddies, and a good strategy is to lure at least 1 teddy into the corner like I did in my video 2:04. If you manage to lure 2, that's even better, as long as you don't die. Because you can move faster than the teddies here, another good strategy is to line them all up and get them to chase you from behind. This lets you easily get all of the shards as it prevents them from cutting you cut off. But honestly, the best and easiest strategy is to just abuse Invisibility. Just wait in a corner somewhere until the power recharges, and when you use it, be careful not to walk into any of the teddies as you're moving through One more thing, the teddies don't despawn after you collect all the shards. They can still kill you even during the Mama Bear jumpscare, so make sure none of them are close to you when you open that door. I hope this helps. 🙂

It was extremely hard; the hardest Dark Deception challenge I've managed to complete so far. It took a few months of attempts at least before I was finally able to complete it. Also, what I did here 5:25 isn't too hard to do. You should try for yourself. 🙂

I hate bearly buried because first you have all of your powers taken away speed boost and telepathy which you don’t even have until zone 3 and by the fact the stealth sequence is way more harder than the torment therapy stealth sequence and by the fact that you are forced to enter this level and by the fact that Bierce doesn’t speak in this level and there is a bug in mama bears 2 bossfight if you stand in a certain section her and the trigger teddies will not move meaning you have time to swap your powers to vanish and primal fear of you didn’t have them selected

I generally delete my failed attempts to save disk space, but I save clips if anything interesting happens. The 50v1 Manor Challenge is the only instance so far where I decided to save clips of all of my failed attempts.

If I understand correctly, you fought and won every monster from his challenge without any powers as a true badass (Angela, Joy joy gang, british pirates and today Russian bears).
