Yup ! Those are the best looking CGI lions ever made. I mean, I’ve seen them all : Narnia, Lion King 2019, Night at the Museum, Rogue, I am Legend, Proiij, etc. But this is beyond all of them. Jaw dropping !

I love how that lion just trots up to the guy, throws his paws on his shoulders, and starts rubbing his cheeks against his face. It reminds of that video of the lion Christian meeting the two men who raised him after a year... seems lots of cats have a similar way of expressing affection . I would be so honored to be this close to a wild animal, but a close bond like this with any kind of animal is all about respect and trust, on both sides, and it takes a long time and professional approach to get it.

I was thinking about Christian when I saw this scene told. When my dad and I watched this movie, he flipped out seeing this and I explained to him how there are lions that actually do hug humans like this and so I explained to him about Christian. I too would like to have a bond with a wild animal and be hugged and purred against him/her.

You know what's even more incredible? Most normal housecats don't greet their owners with THIS much affection. This is more akin to what dogs do. The standard housecat will maybe do a stretch, meow and rub against your legs.

When my dad and I watched this movie, he threw his hands up worried and slightly shouted "Whoa!" when the first lion ran up to Martin. But I could tell it was going to be a hug. My dad's face just showed he was in total shock watching the hug happen. I explained to him how I have seen this sort of thing with real lions and people. Like Christian the lion hugging his two men owners who haven't seen each other in a year. Or another video of a woman kissing a lion on the face, etc. It truly is amazing how someone can bond with a lion. You just need to make sure you've been with them since they were cubs and give them respect so they can learn to trust you.

I love that they added this scene, so the movie avoids the ‘Jaws’ problem of only showing their titular ‘monster’ as the only representative of their species. Helps emphasize that the rogue in this movie’s extremely unusual when we have these two boys to compare them to. Ferocious, but still animals with families they wanna protect and not just out to kill humans vs the rogue who’s utterly unhinged.

Agree. Also they gave the rogue lion a sympathetic backstory and made poachers the real monsters since they were the ones who started everything. But most of all I liked that the rogue went out the lion way, killed by other lions instead of having the human protagonist pull out some impossible sheanigan.

All animals have emotions, it's just that instincts take control alooooot more often. But yes they do show love, Lions are social animals if you've raised them since they were young then they will show you love and affection the same way they would treat members of their prides which are mostly made up of a family, so as long as they know you and recognize you then you are a member of their pride but you still have to tread carefully since they have social rules that you need to follow and rule number one when it comes to any Felinae or Panthera is never ever turn ur back on them, since that could trigger their hunting instincts since they are ambush predators so they will always go for the prey when they know you don't see em and ur neck is the best and quickest way to be killed, since you'll pass out and then die

To have this type of bond tho you have to be with them since there born and raise them, they basically looked at this guy in the movie and in real life as pride members or parents!!!
