I think it would be fun comic relief if Goten and Trunks befriend Broly while he’s not training to have him tag along on their adventures or whatever they’re up to. Socializing him into society and stuff like that. Also as for training he needs to spend time in yardrat. That is the greatest way for him to master his energy control. He was still in the same ball park as buu just needed training. They keep messing up the fusion so it’s a bigger deal later. They made fusion really important with the reintroduction of gogeta , gotenks is a super strong fusion as well because it’s Two rival sayians, only better rivals were goku and vegeta end of Z

The chapter's establishing that Ultimate was unnamed in-universe until right now is probably why Goku asked about SSJ2 and 3 instead. Those are the forms he knows Gohan can do that he has names for. If the name Ultimate was known to him he would have asked about that instead. He was probably thinking that Gohan enhanced 1 of these 3 forms with a rage boost the way Future Trunks' rage enhanced SSJ2.

How strong would Gotenks be tho? The boys can only go Super saiyan and Super Saiyan 3 when fused. Simply put, most of the villains they would face would be way out of their league. Unless they decide to give Gotenks Super Saiyan 4 or something, the power gap just seems too great.

Even then, Gotenks would need a beast/Orange Piccolo level power up to be able to deal with the current strength of threats in dragon ball, and Gotenks right now is probably weaker than Ultimate Gohan and the 2 Gammas.

I believe it’s that The God Forms and their individual techniques are not massive jumps in raw power like Gohan’s. Gohan’s ultimate form was just below blue but with far better stamina. Every time Gohan gets a new form it’s always been a more potent power jump than anyone elses’s other than Frieza or Broly.

one thing I noticed reading the chapter. Notice during Goku/Gohan's Fight, Vegeta never seems to have an issue keeping an eye on both of them. he is shown 3 times observing, but never moving, while the rest seem to be amazed and struggle. Reminds me of how they wrote Gohan during the Cell Games. Not to say I think Vegeta is "Stronger" but I think its a nice detail showing he is less impressed, and likely on par with the both of them. Love the small details like that.

10/10 chapter. For all the talk about the fights, there's actually some really awesome story points being covered here. 1. Gohan is back, and it's not just because of Beast. He now understands that he needs to be be ready to protect Earth and his family at all times. His development has finally come full circle. 2. Gohan and Piccolo training together again is beautiful and I love how Goku fully acknowledges Piccolo as Gohan's true master despite all the training they've done together. 3. Trunks and Goten are STRONG. People need to remember just how much power creep we've gotten in Super since the ToP. For them to be able to somewhat keep up with Gohan in his current Super Saiyan state scales them well above Buu Saga Goku and Vegeta. 4. I love that Broly is finally being introduced to all the other saiyans. It really makes him feel like one of the group now. 5. Toyotarou made it a point to have Trunks talk about the RR guys and filming their fight more than once, and even made that little joke about deleting the part where they lost. There's absolutely no way that video isn't going to be relevant at some point going forward. When Piccolo is featured, I predict he's going to fight Vegeta and not Goku. Vegeta is going to demand it's his turn and honestly this is a matchup that's a long time coming.

I’m of the belief that this epilogue is leading into Vomi and that this new arch/saga could be an android 21 arch/saga. The fact that Carmine and 15 are there and there recording the fights, the tease of Vomi in super hero. You wouldn’t keep the red ribbon army around and have them collecting data if they weren’t going to use it. Dr.Gero used a lot of data to determine his androids and the upgrades he gave them, or even in cells case, collect the dna of the fighters. All I’m saying is keep an eye out.

I feel like a story Toriyama has unintentionally told the whole DB saga is the conflict between organics and artifical, specifically relating to power. It seems in Dragon Ball you can artifically create a lot of power to the point where you can match even the strongest organics. We see it with 17 and 18, and now with Cell Max and the two good androids created in Super Hero. They can go head to head with beings who have trained their whole lives to be strong.

I actually think the multiple failed fat Gotenks fusions serves a different purpose. Its a way of taking fusion off the table as a go to transformation. While success makes you way stronger, its too easy to fail. Failure essentially means you're out of the fight. it makes people hesitant to attempt it, and answers the question, why don't they just fuse. It allows for fusion to be used for more dramatic purposes. When all else has failed, they are desperate and against the ropes, they attempt the risky fusion dance as their last hail mary hope.

Yeah. It could be a way to get them to stop fighting as a team and get stronger as individual fighters. Like how Goku and Vegeta didn't like their combination attacks before they fused. Like Goku and Vegeta can fuse, too, but they choose to get stronger individually for a reason. Goten and Trunks should as well. Or it could just be build up for the big climactic moment when the fusion does work against a real enemy instead of a sparring match.

@@marthouismcmiller4787 OK, but I'm sure Whis doesn't want Goku and Vegeta to only fight as a pair and fuse every fight. Goten/Trunks have like the opposite problem that Goku/Vegeta have. Goku and Vegeta rely too much on themselves individually while Goten and Trunks rely too much on themselves as a team. Martial arts is all about balance. Self-reliance and team work are both good things, but they're in conflict. Too much of one can hinder the other. The idea is to find the balance.

I agree with you Geekdom on the SSJ2/3 comment. I get that he could've mastered it but earlier in the issue Goku refers to it as a new form when asking Gohan to come with him. So he should have kept referring to it as that instead of an outdated ssj form.

Just 2 things. I reread the viz twice I don’t think Whis made any reference to Gohan being the strongest. Just that the fight would be a spectacle. I think Goku was asking gohan if the transformation was “like” ssj2 or ssj3, not so much that it was ssj2 or 3. In other words maybe he thought Gohan had learned how to push ssj even further.

This is a good calm, before the storm type of chapter. It will be interesting to see, where they go with this. But i still want to see, them visit universe 6 saiyan planet. For all we know, they could pick up a new technique or two. Since they evolved definitely in their universe. Plus, i'm sure universe 6 could pick up alot from other saiyans as well. After that of course would be finding out what frieza is up to. Which i think is important, since frieza left vegeta and goku alive. After frieza one shotted them. My guess, is frieza might need their help for something. Otherwise no point to leave them a live, after beating them.

That’s not what was implied. Goku was asking what the power up was relatively. He couldn’t tell what it was exactly because he’s never seen it but he does know the look and feel of SSJ2 & 3 and Beast has visual similarities to both. It’s likely he just didn’t have anything else to realistically compare it to.

@Geekdom101, regarding Goku's question about whether Gohan is using SSJ2 or 3, I hear you. But you also have to remember that these forms have been shown to be amped as the series/chapters progress. The biggest leaps were: SSJ1 Goku was supercharged by absorbing the power of SSJG. Later, Future Trunks amped his SSJ2 up to SSJ3 levels in the manga. Goku has only been really dealing with god ki as of late, so it's possible he got a bit rusty feeling out mortal ki. It makes sense when you consider all of this. He probably thinks that Gohan somehow did the same as Future Trunks and super amped a previous form. He'd have no basis to assume that Gohan achieved a new form since Ultimate (Why he didn't assume that Gohan enhanced his Ultimate state, idk tbh). 😅

When Goku asked Gohan about his new power or form that he got being Super Saiyan 2. It didn't make any sense, because I am pretty sure that a different form would have a different type of power, like how God Ki in Super Saiyan God and Blue are different from regular energy, (tell me if I am wrong). However, I would have liked it if they were playing at if it was a nod at like a character or individual who can evolve their power or just one form on their own so that that power alone can match Gods. For example, Jiren and Broly don't have any God Ki or Godly power. They are just that powerful, and Gohan training for the Tournament of Power, and he fought Super Saiyan Blue Goku, showing that he was just that powerful or around those stronger levels. If they were trying to imply something like that, like that someone can just become strong and powerful as Gods without even having God Ki/energy then I would have liked that, showing that Gohan can become strong that in his other forms like Super Saiyan 2 or Ultimate that he would be around God level, but the way that Goku implied Super Saiyan 2 just sounded dumb and silly.

When Goku & Gohan fight it’s like they are fighting reflections of each other as they're Father & son after all. Think of martial artists who practice in front of a mirror to improve their form. This is the same except Goku’s reflection (Gohan) is a living being fighting back. Notice when they fought in the past, when it got to the point of extreme and focus, there was complete synergy & synchronicity between the two. So satisfying to watch.

What I like about the Gotenks failed fusion is that it shows that because there hasn't been a threat big enough for them to fuse and how peaceful it is they eventually got out of practice and forgot the 100% sync they had as kids which makes a lot of sense.

I thought this chapter was great my only gripe with it was during the spar between Gohan and the boys. I liked that they sparred let me start off with that but I personally don't feel as if Gohan in his base Super Saiyan form beat the boys easily enough. I would have liked to see Gohan smack the boys around as regular as regular SSJ. Then prompting the boys to properly fuse into Gotenks. For me this would have solidified how much stronger Gohan is that he could beat two Super Saiyan's (albeit the weakest Saiyan's in the manga) attacking him and that his own "secret training" that he did by himself and training with Piccolo really paid off, by forcing the boys to fuse into a perfect fusion. Then I think it would have been warranted for him to power up into Ultimate form you could still keep the line where Gotenks calls him Ultimate for the clarification and then it doesn't feel like it cheapens the form. As I was reading it felt that Gohan decided he needed to power up to Ultimate form to beat Goten and Trunks in a 2 on 1. This didn't sit right with me after they have been stuck at SSJ level for ~3 years, it really cheapens the Ultimate form for me. Especially after we saw it go toe to toe with Blue Goku before the ToP. Getting back to my desired changes I would then have Gohan beat a perfectly fused Gotenks with little difficulty and he then starts his fight against Goku in his beast form. The reason I would have Ultimate beat a perfectly fused Gotenks is not because I dislike the boys in fact I want them more involved in the manga. I think if the two boys got handed defeat easily against SSJ Gohan when it was 2 on 1. Then got handed another defeat easily against Ultimate Gohan in their perfectly fused form (Gotenks) it would set up a panel for when Gohan is fighting Goku in Beast form in chapter 103 saying they really need to focus on their training. Seeing just how much further ahead Gohan is then them would undoubtedly spur this conversation. This would set up a perfect segway into a Goten and Trunks mini training arc, and stop them from being the butt of every joke and comedic relief only.
