📥 Download the PGN of this gambit from this blog-post - chess-teacher.com/smith-morra...
In this video lesson, GM Igor Smirnov will show you how to crush the Sicilian Defense when you are playing White. Of course, you've got to be aware of this if you are playing the Sicilian Defense as Black. You will learn the Smith-Morra Gambit which happens after the opening moves: 1.e4 c5 2.d4 cxd4 3.c3.
One of the biggest advantages of this gambit for White is that you cut down a whole bunch of opening theory. For instance, after 1.e4 c5 2.Nf3, Black can play the Najdorf, the Dragon, the Sveshnikov, and what not! However, you can drag your opponents out of their preparation with this sharp gambit, which is extremely dangerous for Black.
You'll learn the common setup for White, typical ideas, and some interesting traps. GM Smirnov will also show you an interesting trap that Black can use against White, which ends the game in just a few moves.

@@mythicalmilkyway2536 black doesnt have time to block the bishop because the queen is taking the knight and if the black queen doesnt respond then you get the knight for nothing. If in fact the bishop didnt exist then the queen taking the knight wouldnt work.

I ALREADY play smith morra and tried to book up on it, but the DOZENS of paulse, kan, pin etc. formation transpositions made my head hurt so I never even finished my book. I'm hoping this video gives me new insights like the recently learned "play king's gambit style Qb3 behind Bc4 when black plays e5" and have destroyed both of my opponents in THAT LINE. if THIS video does for my smith morra what your *AWESOME* hartlaub/charlick gambit video did for my slav/stonewall woes with an completely understandable system i'm waxing opponents 2:1 with at the 1700 level! if this can improve my smith morra results, there should be some ratings points improvement in it. maybe I'll learn more about the FUNDAMENTALS that trying to memorize 400 lines of theory

Hello Igor, thank you for sharing this wonderful video. I used to play this opening but only had about 50% success. I am 1560 elo so not great. I have a better grasp of it now thank you. I have a question at about 18 minutes 27 secs. at the point where you have played Bg5 for white. Like i said I am only 1560 so I could be wrong. You don't need the Bishop move because you have QxN on d5 anyway. You cant take with the pawn because of the pin, and if you take with the Queen. The you have a family fork as we say in the UK.Nc7+ is forking King, Queen and Rook. Thank again
@prathameshjadhav5023
@prathameshjadhav5023 2 жыл бұрын
well it doesn't work because when you fork the king and the queen the king can slide to d8 while getting out of the pin and after you take the queen black is up 2 pawns which is not what you want.
