That trem technique is textbook wrong. The write should be moving up and down, not side to side. Look at paul gilbert, his picking hand technique is essentially flawless, and he uses the same picking motion for alt and trem.

Love covers like this that prove that you don't have to have certain equipment to play exact solos etc. When I first started playing, I got so overwhelmed that if I couldn't use their exact guitar or tone or pedal or whatever that I could never play the song/solo. But things like this just prove that you can overcome pretty much anything with skill. Well-played and the whammy-less whammy sections were done extremely well

Lol. Is changing the way one holds the pick somehow an accomplishment now? Other people can pick this fast without needing to lift up their wrist. The only thing that matters is the resulting sound, nothing else. You don't need to try and mimic everything a famous guitarist does.

fun fact, evh himself said that Michael Jackson never paid him for that solo. but who cares. he actually wanted to do it as a favor..he played a solo in an iconic song on the greatest selling record of all time..id say thats pretty good and say i played on a MJ album i think the riffs on this song were done by steve Lukather from toto, which is strange cause evh captured the best tone for this solo, with the riffs u would never believe that eddie didn't play rhythm throughout the song he matched the riff tone 100%
