with all due respect I think you're missing the point of most of those comments.... Some people liked or didn't like the beat, that's just life. that's gonna happen. What a large group of people were picking up on and commenting on was a lack of passion. When I watched that, it felt like someone reading a lazy promo during a podcast or making an appearance on a show to promote their movie and doing the bare minimum. THAT'S what turned off a big subset of viewers. You can't watch that one then go watch lets say Black Milk's one and feel like the passion or love for the challenge was the same.... First record. First song. No real insight... Just blaze did one, he was certainly paid by sprite to be there too.. he engaged MUCH MORE. He gave more of a glimpse into process. He cared.. I didn't feel that from Tim. Maybe its just his persona or the vibe he's giving off but like I said I think so many people watch these cuz you feel a connection with legends. Shit the Beatminerz??? In their apartment cooking up and collaborating.. that's why you watch it. Its that look of inspiration when they find a dope sample and the search for the right drums and all that stuff that beat makers relate to. You know what I mean? Just not a very inspiring episode. Okay rant over haha.

I’m not giving a Grammy winning producer sitting in a professional sound studio any credit for that weak beat he made. All that gear and years in the business and that’s the best he can do? I used to be a major Timbaland fan and I mean major. I’d buy any album that had his production on it and would argue to death that he was the best producer. Over the years it’s Timbaland own ego that really tarnished my view point of him. He could have put more work into that beat to make it sound like something. He felt he didn’t need too because he’s Timbaland. If he made a whack beat but he put effort into it I couldn’t bash. But he just threw some generic drums over an easy sample cut.

@@kirkstate that’s actually one of the reasons I decided to create my KZbin channel and focus back on music production. I started producing back in 2001 so I have a good handle on how things used to be back in the day or even in the studio or how we used to work with artist. And I have a decent handle on how things work today. I think the problem is too many of the influencers today get a tiny bit of information and try to build an entire empire on it rather than look at the overall picture and see how things really work. So when I started my channel, I decided that if I’m gonna make content related to music production, I want to give you a realistic picture of what’s going on. Why I choose to work with hardware first before taking it into software, the creative benefits of that. No one is saying you can’t do all of these things in the box but the problem with infinite choice is that you get lost in all of that so a lot of times i think it’s easy to just default back to a loop And throw it out there and that be that. But you forget that there was a lot more going on back then and we have some amazing tools we can use today, so why not blend the best of both worlds create something even better? That’s what I’ve been doing because it is a merger of things especially when you don’t have access to all those people all those tools physically like back then today a lot of it is right there in front of you but because so many people just use loop packs and copies similar processes they’re not creating their own style. Style is very important. At the very least if you’re gonna use a loop pack turn it into something different just like we used to when you sampled a record. Don’t just take the loop and play it. Actually my latest video on the MPC studio and how I’m using it in the home studio set up I opened up an expansion pack to show a demo of how I’m using the tool and one of the tracks I opened up was one I heard on so many videos online. It has millions and millions of plays and the hilarious thing is whoever produced it. They just took the loop and explored it and I’m like wow. They didn’t even try.

It's mostly these cats from another persuasion trying to make it seems like they set the standers. Most these cats talking the most stuff was born in the mid nineties, had a uncle, brother or some old school cat that was part of a music / Hip-Hop seen or rap group and they saw how things was done, as fare as putting together beats by using a sampler. Even now there's youtube videos that would show you how to use old gear like the famouse ASR-10 still a great machine. Bruh!!!!! Now you preaching .. been saying that... Hell a lot of stuff back then #1 happened by accident #2 the accident sounded good so you added to it #3 you used what you had. I love J. Dilla but I can guarantee to you a lot of his stuff happened in that same manner ... I started on an ASR-10 and you used to its max and made it work..

I read the comments first. When i heard the beat he made, i didnt understand the issue. I get that he went with something more comfortable for him, but most producers do that.

From the beat making process to the editing and mixing and mastering. Doing it all is not easy but it’s not impossible. I think I get a good sound all on my own. Because we all don’t have loads of money to pay for these services… am I right. lol.
