Beating Dark Souls 1 with items only from Firelink Shrine

The premise of this run is that I can only use items found in firelink shrine, the main hub of Dark Souls 1. Pretty much anything goes as long as it is found in the area. You know the usual business by now.

This could be super fun and interesting in DS2, using only items from Majula, there's quite a lot of options but if you also limit upgrade materials it would scale perfectly with the endgame considering you get higher grade materials the further you go

Still having tons of fun with this! Just took down O&S with the Zweihander and half of Domnhall’s set, now bought the rest, I look epic but a bit overloaded. Really worried about Tomb of Giants in the dark…can’t think of a solution…if you have any other fun challenge ideas like this please let me know! The other one I really enjoyed was crossbow only, great prep and a really new way to play for me anyway.

A couple things: 1: I appreciate explaining things without the assumption that someone has played the game. It makes the video date better and accessible to people who haven't played the game or don't know it super well. I've been watching Dark Souls challenge runs since before I played it recently. 2: I was NOT expecting Dark Chronicle/Dark Cloud 2 (UK/USA naming is different) music in this. It's good.

If you're struggling with the audio, using the parametric equaliser and multiband compresser (assuming you're using premiere pro) really helps it rise above the music. Great video :)

maybe the peak of not trying. This run is not a challenge by any means, which is why he had to change the rules to make it into a challenge. If this was DS2, it may have been a challenge, but DS1 by the end lets you have just about anything you could want from Firelink Shrine by the time you've got the Lord Vessel. Doesn't help that the creator is trying to be an edgelord either, with the daring people to bitch at him because of how he mispronounced Chasm, which does nothing but show he's stupid (as in, choosing incompetence), which is proof no one should follow his example.

Having a good time with this so far, mostly the winged spear +5. Changed the rules a little bit, I don't need to unlock any rights to use or upgrade items like you did. Always wanted to use the Caduceus shield and now I finally have a reason to. Got gargoyles down, moonlight butterfly, asylum demon (took a while, but still first try) and taurus of course. Gonna grind up to the zweihander now I think that might work ok for most of the run. Also allowed myself armor drops from the undead as those can theoretically drop within Firelink Shrine. Just need the boots to have the full set, what a terrible set it is, heavy and weak all at once. Thanks so much again for this idea! Was running out...and the bandwidth is narrow because I'm just not good enough to do SL 1 runs and that kind of stuff, always get stuck at O&S. Let's see how this goes...

Technically you can get one Estus upgrade via Anastasia, but it doesnt bode well that you destroy the firelink fire when you are using it as the central theme of the run.

I didn't know the glitchy ledge affected the cats as well. Usually never go that way, might have to check it out later. It affects the trees in the dlc.

Something I'd like to mention is that you could've bought the dark sun crown for a 10% boost in your pyromancy damage. It's essentially a weaker dusk crown with no downsides. It'd have only been a minor boost in damage but I wanted to mention this so if anyone decides to do this run you can use that knowledge to make it a little bit easier.
