F-1 World Grand Prix was one of the most successful sim racers on the N64. It makes sense that they wanted to capitalize on that with a sequel to the game. Did this version do anything better?

Moose Fly is probably because the Montreal F1 GP was sponsored by Air Canada, and they couldn't license that brand, so they invented Moose Fly

The driver you refer to as “Williams” was actually Jacques Villeneuve, he was just a very stubborn guy and would not allow his name to be used. The team is called Williams so the devs just went with that. Fun fact.

Probably the most polarizing champion. A lot of people think, that he didnt deserved his title in 1997 despite the fact that he beat schumacher in that season or to be exact: schumacher lost to him under controversial circumstances ( he rammed villeneuves sid pods with the intention of kicking him out of the race) Fun fact: interestingly, schumacher and villeneuve never shared a podium over the course of the season.

I remember when formula 1 started to broadcast old races on their youtube during the corona pandemic, and they included one of my personal favorite, the belgian gp 98. Kinda sad that they didnt showed the 91 interlagos gp which was also legendary.

Kind of a funny story about this game, I was part of a retro community in my hometown and this game was selling for about 5 dollars for years. Until one guy took it upon himself to just start buying every copy that ever popped up for sale, by the end of it he had well over 100 copies of the game and because he owned them all in the local area the price started to slowly creep up until it was worth 10 or 15 or something. Shoutout to Brad or whatever your name was

I enjoy these marble races at the end, but what I'd really like to see is a 58 lap marble race that goes on for 2 hours minimum, with commentary from Thabs, obviously.

The race at the nürburgring was often labelled as European or Luxemburg GP due to the fact that Hockenheim and Nürburgring a both in Germany and Hockenheim already heId the title of the German GP. So this Loophole was used. Same goes for Monza and Imola. Both Tracks are located in italy but the race in Imola is labelled as the San Marino GP. 1994 Season also featured two GP in Japan. One in at the Aida Raceway which was labelled as the Pacific GP and the iconic GP in Suzuka.

The 1997 season also had two GPs in Spain, the Spanish GP at Barcelona-Catalunya and the European GP at Jerez-the latter was a late addition after the cancelation of the Portuguese GP and took the European label from the Nürburgring, which became the Luxembourg GP instead. Hilariously Jerez lost the '98 European GP after the city's mayor decided he wanted to present the 1997 trophy himself instead of the intended presenter, but the Nürburgring had already been scheduled as the '98 Luxembourg GP and didn't go back to the "European" label until the following season.

And in the past couple of years Imola has returned to the calendar, this time as the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix (after the region in Italy where the track is located). 2020 also saw a Tuscan GP at Mugello, another Italian circuit. In the same vein, 2022 saw the introduction of a Miami GP (on top of the United States GP), and 2023 added a Las Vegas GP as well.

There are multiple small improvements. The cars have been remodeled, the controls are refined, the game can now be played full screen without UI....on top of the new 1998 roster and challenges, its a modest improvement but its definitely better

Moose Fly is from the lager sponsor Molson Dry. And the footage of Argentina skips to Spain when you start talking about the features. As for Luxembourg, F1 only allows one GP per country, so others in the same country have to change the name (hence Nürburgring being Luxembourg, and Imola being San Marino even though it's in Italy)

Formula 1 was my favorite racing championship back in the day. I don't follow it as much now but I have been to a couple of races in Austin and yes... it's so loud. Also the modern Formula 1 games are really fun if you have a group of friends. You can create championships and create your own team and everything matters from the car crashes to penalties during the race. It's a lot of fun.

Your braking is really progressing, it's great to see! Some very smooth lines there when you kept it off the grass. Appreciated the track facts on each round. But the F1 nerd in me needs to point out that you mixed up the Senna S's with turns 7-8 in Brazil (they're actually where you hit the barrier) and that in the year this game was set there was no chicane in Barcelona! Also, wasn't sure if you were joking but Monaco is notoriously difficult to overtake on. Riccardo won there a few years back with a completely broken engine.

So Monte Carlo is actually one of the races with the least amount of passing in F1 history. It is such a big deal because all the wealthy people can park their yatchs 30 to 50 yards from where the cars are racing. The entire area shuts down for the event. There are historic races and other series that are on track in the days leading up to the big F1 race. So it's a massive party for the wealthy. The race is entirely on closed public roads.

The dark racing line on the track is called a “Groove” it’s actually pieces of tire and oil on the track from drivers racing in the same spot on the track over and over. You definitely want to keep your car along that line for the best lap times

Yes, the plate you got after you finished the race in Australia is what the actual real life trophy for the Australian Grand Prix looks like. To this day, they give a plate as a trophy. You can google some podium images to see for yourself.

Thab I love these videos and I know theyre very behind, but I will say just watching a short tutorial video on how to take "Racing lines" and specifically how to take hairpin corners wouldve significantly make these games less of a headache 😂 anyways hope youre doing well. PS you brought up some interesting things that make Formula 1 often, teammates refusing to give up position to their teamate, because, racers want to win obviously. But it often causes controversy! Also street circuits like Monaco have public traffic on them when the F1 cars are not running. Youd be surprised at the timely logistics of F1 street circuit set up. Sometimes this causes issues because the fixes to make the road safer like drain covers can become undone when traffic runs on the road. There have been many times a drain cover becomes unsealed and completely destroys am F1 car.

Also the voice on the radio usually isn't representing *the team. " That's just your face engineer, whose job is to maximize your race, and your teammate has their own race engineer. The key thing here as well is that it's the first race of the season. Usually teams let both drivers race until mid season when they support whoever is ahead
