Shouldn’t it only be 1.5 seconds for the moon Portal to start destroying everything though? Since these portals break physics entirely, while you would still need 3 seconds to see the moon Portal by looking at the moon, the portal connected in the lair would already be active once it hits the moon; which I suppose is at the 1.5 seconds mark, since that 3 seconds delay indicates that the portal ‘shot’ moves at the speed of light.

I love that the Companion Cube at the end is the same one as the first game. Not sure if you noticed that the design of the cubes changed a little bit between games. But the cube at the end matches the design from the first game, and it's incredibly charred, since it's been in the incinerator. So that's not just any Companion Cube. Portal is a gem and stands to this day as one of my favorite video games of all time. Never has another video game encapsulated the feeling of isolation and terrifying mystery the way Portal 2 did. All of the aspects of the first test chambers, seeing Glados try to scrap together chambers with wall scrolls and unexplained "camps" set up by rattman. Some of the panels falling off and catwalks revealing a harrowing abyss beneath you. It truly felt like controlled chaos from beginning to end. The end section in old aperture felt so daunting and quiet, the way they use sound in this section, having every sound and quote from J K Simmons reverberate throughout the wide open abyss felt bone chilling to me. That coupled with the genuis humour delivered by Wheatley and Glados voice actors were so unique and hilarious.

English lyrics of the Turret Opera "Cara Mia Addio": Beautiful dear, my darling beauty My baby, oh heavens (Could alternatively be "Oh Chell", Chell being the name of the protagonist)! That she esteems, that she esteems Oh my dear, farewell! My dear child, why don't you walk far away? Yes, far away from science! My dear, dear baby Ah, my beauty! Ah, my dear! Ah, my dear! Ah, my little girl! Oh, my dearest one! My dear! Ah, my dear! Ah, my little girl! Oh, my dearest one! This song, coupled with some other easter eggs, tells us that Chell was the daughter of Aperture Science employees, brought to the facility during Bring Your Daughter To Work Day. This song appears to be her parents expressing their love and imploring her to leave Aperture behind. The Turrets' VA, the one who sings this song, just so happens to also be GLaDOS' VA, which has led some to theorize that Chell's parents are actually Caroline and Cave Johnson. Either way, it's definitely touching. I'd definitely recommend the Half-LIfe series next, and after that, checking out some videos on the lore of the two series'. Ooh, also the fan reading of the Portal comic "Lab Rat" by derangedband on KZbin.

@TheMightyVee I refuse to believe GLADOS would let you go willingly what better way to ensure the next phase of testing goes on to believe you are free like at the end of portal 2....I'm sure there is a portal gun in that companion box she throws out the door with you at the end....there is no greater prison than the illusion of freedom....and damn straight they would want that tech. Even more of a smart move to ensure GLADOS can observe combat scenarios knowing the combine would chase her to the ends of the earth for that goddamn tech.

An FYI to the editor - Valve don't chase copyrights for their in-game music on game play and streams, check out every other game play. Great vid and game play!

I know, usually the decision to cut that sort of thing boils down to two things, his reaction and if the material could get claimed. He didn't really say much during the credits at all, he said four things in the span of 3 minutes and IIRC only one statement was in reference to the credits. So it was mostly just wasted time, spoke to him about it and mentioned those concerns but I'm glad to hear that Valve don't chase that stuff. I'll look into it more for future videos. :)

I genuinely forgot how much I loved this game. No joke I got this as a birthday present from a friend and despite never having heard of portal before then, I used to play this on my laptop every chance i had during high school after I finished my work (I was a straight A student so my teachers didn't care what I did in my down time... even joined in on occasion). Now I'm older and have a family of my own now, so thanks to you I get to share this with them (even if my wife hopelessly struggling with the camera usually just makes me motion sick XD) Seriously, thank you so much for reminding me how much I love this series!

So, it was explained earlier by Cave Johnson that the white gel was made from moon rocks. This insinuates that all the portal panels were painted with the white gel. This also explains why you can simply shoot a portal to the moon.

PORTAL RELOADED!!!! YES! YOU READ MY COMMENT!!! Hope you do Portal Stories: Mel after. Also, fun fact. GlaDOS AI was made from Carolin's mind, Carolin, the Secretary of Cave Johnson and also his lover. Chell, the protagonist of Portal and Portal 2 is the Daughter of Cave Johnson and Carolin, and the song the turrets sing for Chell at the end is called "Cara mia" which means My dear but can also be interpret as my daughter.

I've never played The Talos Principle, but Antichamber and Superliminal are non-euclidean type games. Much different from Portal which is very euclidean and physics based. They are interesting games, of course, but I wouldn't lump them in as being similar to Portal. Personally, I don't like non-euclidean games because they give me anxiety and are very uncomfortable for me to play.
@futurehistoryarchaeologist4480

@@R3_dacted0 They are very different to portal but they are still within the same niche genre that portal practically invented. Valve played around with similar mechanics to superliminal in a canceled portal prequel called F-Stop so it's not as if there is no overlap.

DeeBee, you really should go back and check out the easter eggs you missed. The big science fair potato sign, the hidden Caroline and Cave Johnson office painting, and also watch the turret opera and ending credits songs with subtitles. There are some huge clues about Chell's origins to be learned. All are well worth watching if you want more closure.

For those who have not seen portal reloaded, it's very anticlimactic. It's about 1/3 the length of portal 2 and shorter then portal 1. The puzzles are great, but the "story" that's put in it, goes nowhere.

God, I wish I could replay the ending again for the first time. Wheatley's part 5 of the plan was such a twist- and the "are you still alive?!?" line just makes you think straight away of the previous game and the huge cultural significance of that song. Yeah I'll never forget Wheatley just yelling off into the distance cos you couldn't save him- so sad.
