From a fellow "old guy" (71 yrs.) who grew up with the Beatles, I thank you for the elucidation of numerous Beatles songs which have challenged my creativity to interpret for 6 decades now. Ironically, my wife was chastened me for my pet obsession with the Beatles - at the supper table. I parried with her obsession for Elvis ... she grudgingly terminated her insults; and we finished our dinner - each smugly convinced of their superior taste. And lo and behold, I discover your delightful channel ! I see that most of your content is fairly recent, so I wasn't too hard on myself for having not found your channel earlier. Anyways, thank you once again for providing remarkable back stories to fuel my inordinate affection for all things Beatles !!! (and just as importantly all things George Martin) - a fellow fan, Roger

The best lines in the song were written by Aunt Mimi. George Martin was surprised at the lyrics' maturity and how well they captured the point of view of the parents, apparently not knowing their source. Thanks for the great story and for the sad epilogue that I hadn't heard before.

Congrats on another great video. Interestingly, according to her own account, harpist Sheila wasn’t told it was a Beatles session and had no idea until after she had arrived. Although the “official” story is that it was a mere coincidence that this song was about the same girl that Paul had judged on RSG a mere few years earlier, he’s one of those people who never forgets a face. Although he probably wouldn’t admit it, the fact that the story was an interesting one AND he recognized the girl in the news from the contest might have inspired him just that much more. While yes The Beatles met so many people in the 4 years of touring, it’s hard to believe he would remember this woman, you’d be surprised. For years, the story was that Eleanor Rigby was a made up name but in fact it was a actual gravestone close by (in a cemetery) to where John and Paul first met at the church fete. Thats the genius of these guys that still boggles my mind. Hell, George wrote a song using mostly names of candies from a box of chocolates (Savoy Truffle). Not exactly what one would say is normal inspiration for a song (although Clapton did complain to him about a toothache )…. PS. Curious minds want to know, what is your background in music ? Are you a session or performing musician ? It would be great if you did a piece about your musical history. I’m sure the viewers would enjoy it !

@@the_guitar_trooper You might be surprised on that. It amazes me how interested folks can get with content creators (sometimes on some pretty mundane content - like pushing buttons on a slot machine) and how and why they got interested in becoming a content creator in the first place. I think people like myself enjoy your channel based on both the way you tell the story as much as the glorious detail in the research. So yes, folks may want to hear you occasionally weave in your personal memories sometime about the music you love to detail. Perhaps a little more of you with the guitar, as you’ve demonstrated in the past (which I’ve enjoyed). After all, you ARE the Guitar Trooper…

Paul said that George asked him who wrote the bridge to she's leaving home years later while he was playing it on the piano saying it was particularly satisfying to have that melody round the chord and Paul said he told him it was John so I thought that John wrote the music to that bit as well as the lyrics as Paul says so... Just as paul wrote the bridge to day in the life and others or john wrote the bridge to we can work it out and michelle and others.
@the_guitar_trooper6 ай бұрын
This is one of those details that we often find that presents as contradicting accounts depending upon the source. After this many years, it is not unusual for several different accounts to develop, and I just take my best shot at the correct one.
@Rich-ng3yy6 ай бұрын
@@the_guitar_trooper yes. I wasn't correcting you so much as I thought sort of supplementing. If I can remember the source or find it I'll let you know but it was definitely an interview with Paul and he spoke about George playing it on piano while they were chatting... I may have misremembered but I'll try and find it. Lovely story about the girl, I'd only known it was based on a newspaper article and was relieved to learn she was ok.
