ya, I agree. all of the "what am I using" is pretty easily available with simple searches. but how things work all together and the theory behind it is what is helpful IMO.

For a, largely, "bedroom guitarist," I have a pretty advanced setup, between being fully wireless w/ CIEMs, 10 pedals + Helix through an ML10X, and controlled by an MC-8 (incl. most of the pedals directly via MIDI). Why? It's fun, and I'm a nerd. So, having these deeper dives is incredibly helpful. I see that you're making more of these types of videos as-of-late, so, thank you!

@@tmilewski that is so rad! Yes it’s absolutely so much fun to really push all the gear to its limits, and especially with midi beat clock / tempo sync , everything gets so dialed in no matter if we want to speed up sections or whole songs. I really love it.

Idk much about all this stuff but I do know you guys sounded incredible at the shows. Definetly one of the best sounding performances I've ever heard, if not the best. Hi Beau, thanks for the video. Is there a video on how you approach setting up your tones on the AxeFX or maybe a short rundown on your patches? As you said they are pretty basic but the settings you used would be interesting for others as well I guess. Thanks! Loving your music!

I could do that. The settings are also pretty basic. It is really dependent on the guitar and how hard you play

is it nerve-racking running a laptop for a show? Have you ever had any issues and how have you gotten around them in the event that it fails?

Not at all. I’ve been running a lap top for amp switching since 2008 ish. Using an older lap top running pro tools. Only time it’s ever crashed was on taste of chaos 2017. But it was from being in direct sun middle of summer. Hottest show I’ve ever played. - since the computer only controls channel switching and click track while we play, it is not difficult to finish the set or song with no channel switching. But the new fractal foot controllers allow you to use a computer and foot controller at the same time.

most songs are D standard. DGCFAD. then some in Drop C CGCFAD. one song in CGCFAsharpD and one song in CGCFAC

Beau, what brand/gauge strings are you playing?

I use Ernie Ball strings. I use custom sets that are 11-56. keep in mind I'm playing D standard on a 26.5" scale, so it's pretty tight feeling, which is how I prefer it because I play very hard.
