Thanks! The pairs of channels concept comes from the early days of my Hughes and kettner Triamp. It had 3 amps with 2 channels each for a total of 6 tones, then able to activate the time based fx in the loop. Thanks for watching!

Very cool and a lot simpler than I thought it would be. I've been wanting to ask, do you use the same tones live as you do for recording? If not, maybe you could go over what makes a good tone for recording. I watched your episode on Nail The Mix (I think that's where I saw it) and listened to the stems for The SIlver String and the difference in the tone of the guitars between mixed vs the raw stems made me rethink what kind of tone I should be using when recording. Not looking for a specific dialed in tone because I'm sure you get that question all the time, just looking for advice on getting a tone that sits well in a mix. Hope the tour goes well!

I simplify a lot for live. On albums I get pretty wild with different amps and guitars for different riffs.

I use 3M Duo Lock. It will hold down anything heavy. however, TSA seems to enjoy tearing it all apart. I'm building a new Pedalboard style unit for the next tour, and I will be sure to include how I am attaching everything.

Per my comments on your other video, this is so incredibly amazing! I'd love to see the ears setup and how that works for the band as a whole. Are you using a single patch for all songs in the set, with scenes for changes, or do you have multiple patches?
@Beau.Burchell Жыл бұрын
I’ll try to do a similar video for the in ears setup. - I was able to get the set down to 2 patches. They are both identical blocks with the exception of the pitch shift settings.

6:02 Hey Beau thanks for posting this, it’s helped me a bunch! My last hurtle here is programming wah to be automated with MIDI in the QC. Reading through some of these comments, am I understanding correctly that the expression midi commands need to be on a separate midi channel and not part of the scene midi command? So essentially one midi track for presets/scene changes on one channel and a second midi track to control expression sweep on another channel? I’m not using an actual expression pedal but that isn’t necessary right? I just need wah for a part and am having a tough time getting it to behave correctly! Using Ableton 11. Thanks so much! P.S. my drummer Chrissy Warner says hi 👋🏼

You can send on the same channel. I’m doing an updated pedalboard video. And maybe a course on programming the QC with most daws.

@Beau.Burchell Жыл бұрын
Awesome! Yes I have one midi track for my rig, and another midi track for the other guitar rig. They each need their own commands because both guitars don’t always change to the same settings at the same times. If that makes sense.

Hi Beau, thank you for showing us your rig. Really nice btw. However I have a question about your wireless system. I assume you are using more than one guitar on show, so are the transmitters on the same frequency and how do you do it on guitars switch? Or do you use different frequencies and they are automated? Thank you
@Beau.Burchell Жыл бұрын
Good question. I have 2 guitars and 3 straps / transmitters on this tour. The third transmitter is a back up in case one gets damaged. - all 3 transmitters are set to the same frequency. The strap and transmitter stays attached to its own guitar for the length of the show. - when I need a switch, I turn off my current pack while I hand it to my guitar tech, then he turns on the new guitar pack. It’s somewhat of a synchronized dance. But the main thing is to turn off the first one, then turn on the new one.

In almost 20 years of playing to a click track live, the computer has only crashed once, and it was a 110 degree day outdoor venue in the sun. We played a song or two with no click while the computer cooled off.

Hi Beau! Do you and Phil have the same scene switches? For example, is there ever an instance that you play scene A and he plays another (B,C…etc)? The midi solutions box basically just splits the one midi signal and sends the SAME signal to both quads? Thanks!
@Beau.Burchell Жыл бұрын
Yes. We often have different scenes at different times . His kemper is set to receive channel 3. My QC receives channel 1. And the whammy pedal receives channel 2. Each midi track in ableton is set to a different output channel.
@christopherpropst20952 ай бұрын
Are the same midi patch changes sent to both quads at the same time? Meaning the scenes for each quad are the exact same, or it's there a way to send different patch changes simultaneously to each quad with only 1 usb>midi?
@Beau.Burchell2 ай бұрын
You can watch my latest gear run through for how I do it now. But yes you can use 1 5 pin and a splitter box like I have in this video. One QC receives in midi ch 1. The other in ch 2. Then you can multiple unique changes to each QC. Hopefully that makes sense. But you will need that midi splitter box.
@sinuhe.m2 ай бұрын
Hi! How do you attach the QC to the tray to keep it from moving or coming off when you move the whole rack for your shows?
@Beau.Burchell2 ай бұрын
I have now moved to QC on a pedalboard. But still attach it the same way... Duo Lock Velcro. Very important to get Duo Lock and not regular velcro, they are very different and the Duo Lock is very strong.

how do u automate parameters in the QC via MIDI? I know how to change presets and scenes but not to do it with isolated parameters as u did with the whammy
@Beau.Burchell Жыл бұрын
Assign the parameter to an expression pedal. Then in your daw, draw automation to be sent to the quad cortex as the expression pedal CC info. I don’t remember what the cc number is off hand, but it is in the user manual.
