Daniel Barbour well they are very skittish and I’ve seen some be prone to biting but once tamed down they are very interesting creatures to observe but just a note in the taming process even if yours Isn’t a biter I recommend wearing gloves cause there claws will tear you up

You gotta show that you can take care of it 100%. Getting the food from the store, paying for it yourself, etc. Always a tough sell, but keep pestering them and save your $$ so you can pay for 100% of it and the caging / lighting needs. Good luck

Honestly unless your really into taking care of something child like I'd say their right to say no. My panther has cost me in total probably upwards of $1,600 in the past year and that's without taking electricity into context. If I were you I'd go for a rad gecko or maybe a bearded dragon since they're relatively inexpensive. But hey that's just my 2 cents.

13cali ways that's definitely not true! I have a male panther chameleon and he is literally a dog in a chameleons body. He is extremely tame and loves to sit in my hand with his tail wrapped around my arm and watch TV. He loves coming out and walking all over people. Just depends what species you have, what the parents were like, what breeder you get it from and obviously how you bring it up

Actually tree monitors are AD-EX (advanced to expert only) intermediate would be created gecko (example)

Crested gecko is beginner, a tegu might be considered intermediate well most monitors are advanced. But I do agree these guys are very advanced because their arboreal nature and their price tag. Along with their rareness
