@@joemadden4200 I met Jeffrey and the blonde as well as David Haskell when they were testing Godspell at the Kennedy Center before it went to Broadway. The broadway cast was amazing. And honestly, while I like Garber, I didn't like the film because it was in the hands of a director who didn't know how to shoot a musical. The same thing happened with Finians Rainbow. And that is a famous director on that film that we all know and love. But he wasn't a musical director and he chopped off Fred Astaire's legs in most of his musical numbers.

"Bridge Over Troubled Water" song by Simon & Garfunkel is many people's favorite lamenting Opium / Heroin song, because that, is the real meaning of what this song is all about. "Silver Girl" is actually the Opium / Heroin "shining" needle "sailing" into a person's arm taking all the emotional, physical pain away... temporarily. The many hidden things in popular songs. The 'Altered Beast' video game symbolism represents the Satan flash nature all we people on earth spiritually and physically struggle with. We all inherited the Satan flash nature from Adam and Eve when they allowed themselves to be deceived by the evil fallen angel Satan in the Garden of Eden many thousands of years ago. The desire for the 'Stone of Destiny' (also called the Grail) from the evil fallen angel Satan is an idol a few politicians have lusted after. * NOTE: The 'Stone of Destiny' is partly explained about in the 1981 movie 'HEAVY METAL' . "All flesh not the same flesh: but one flesh of men, another flesh of beasts, another of fishes, another of birds. There are also celestial bodies, and bodies terrestrial: but the glory of the celestial one, and the of the terrestrial another." "Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption." ~ HOLY BIBLE, 1 Corinthians 15: 39,40, 50 This is why people must be "born again"...born again spiritually. The cursed Satan flesh nature bodies we have inherited will not be allowed in Heaven. UNITED STATES I. R. I. E. ✨SABBATH OF THE NEW COVENANT✨ Having Christian fellowship in a building on Sunday is not the mark of the beast. The Roman Catholic church & Vatican is lying to you. Most people need to stop being mentally lazy and spiritually naive. Please read my Christian message here and study it and ask GOD to help you understand the spiritual and Biblical truth of it: THE SABBATH OF THE NEW COVENANT This information is being written because we as Christians are living in a very peculiar time. In these last days prior to the return of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, there is such confusion among so many well meaning and Christian-minded people, and one great point of confusion and contention is regarding the Sabbath. I have personally been confronted by people who condemned me and my ministry because I did not keep the Sabbath the way they were trying to keep it. There is extremism in any belief system, and that extremism occurs when proponents of a belief system do not accept the whole council of God. In this message, we will look at the whole council of God on the subject of the Sabbath, which will bring forth a clear understanding of what it is and how it must be kept. We will now go back to the origin of the Sabbath at the time of the creation as told at the beginning of the book of Genesis. In Genesis 2:1-3 we read, "Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them. And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made." One thing that should be immediately noticed is that all of the preceding six days end with the following words, "And the evening and the morning were the (1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, or 6th) day." We do not find these words of finality or summation ending the seventh day, because in a perfect world, everyday thereafter would be a condition of Sabbath or rest and repose. That day was open-ended! Only sin could take away that condition of Sabbath or rest that was meant for everyday, and sadly, that is exactly what happened. Later, we will see how our Lord Jesus restored the perpetual and continual Sabbath to our souls. The first time we see the word "Sabbath" is in the book of Exodus, and in Exodus 20:8-11, we find that it is given as one of the Ten Commandments as follows: "Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labor, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day, and hallowed it." One primary point that must be noted regarding the Sabbath commandment is that it has nothing to do with going to church! It has only to do with the cessation from work. Nothing more and nothing less. Sinful man was ordered to do nothing on the seventh day. Thus, one day each week he would not be out there committing sin after sin after sin. It was a "do nothing" day, established as such until the Savior would come to give us victory over sin every day of the week and establish rest for our souls by his spirit dwelling within. This could be made possible only through a New Covenant established by the blood of the Lamb of God! The Old Testament is replete with examples of Sabbath commandments, but in every example, it is under the Old Covenant of a single day of rest, which by the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ has given way to a Sabbath, where every day is one where we cease from our old works. The Old Covenant, according to Hebrews 8:13, is no more! It reads as follows: "In that he saith, a New Covenant, he hath made the first old. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old is ready to vanish away." In Galatians 3:24-25, we are exhorted "Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. But after that faith is come, we are NO LONGER UNDER THE SCHOOLMASTER." Thus, the law could lead us to Christ but no further! Those who think that they are keeping the Sabbath as a day must remember that James 2:10 says, "For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all." The only one who has ever kept the Sabbath perfectly is Jesus Christ. Man cannot do what He did in keeping the law. The Lord Jesus took the law to Calvary as well as the sin of the world. It was there that the law and all transgressions met, and He bore the sin of many. See Isaiah 53. Is there a Sabbath after Calvary? Yes! Hebrews 4:9-10 says, "There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God. For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his." There are two words not found in those verses, "Sabbath" and "day." It is because our rest is no longer a calendar day each week, but every day, which includes the seventh, and thus we keep the Sabbath by living a godly and blood-washed life every day. For we have ceased from our old works. Some people who haven't come to an understanding of what covenant they are under will point out that Paul often went into the synagogues on the Sabbath. If we look at those incidents, however, we see that it was to bring those who hear out of the synagogue and that system of death. Here is what Paul the Apostle said about the seventh day as found in Romans 14:5-6: "One man esteemeth one day above another, another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind. He that regardeth the day, regardeth it unto the Lord, and he that regardeth not the day, to the Lord he doth not regard it." We know that the Sabbath law is fulfilled in Jesus Christ and He abides within us. The seventh day Sabbath was not eliminated but fulfilled, and our Savior added six more days to that rest and gave us the timelessness of eternal life. Thus, the seventh day is kept holy with all the other days. We can worship our Lord any day and every day. We know that Sunday is not the Sabbath but rather one of seven days, any of which can be used for worship. Acts 20:7 says, "And upon the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul preached unto them, ready to depart on the morrow; and continued his speech until midnight." It is my humble prayer that all who read this will realize the joy of keeping all seven days of the week holy and thus fulfill the sacred commandment; for it is not our works but the finished work of Christ that has established the eternal timeless Sabbath of the New Covenant by the power of His blood. The Seventh Day Adventist denomination "church" and all other denominational "churches" in the U.S.A. have signed a "deal with the Devil" (Roman Catholic Vatican & IRS) called the IRC 501c3 contract. Read all the details on the website HushMoney.org by searching for it through archive.com also known as The Way Back Machine. The word "mark" (Greek language is charagma) in the HOLY BIBLE book of Revelation chapter 13 verse 16 is translated "cutting in the flesh". The mark of the beast is both spiritual and physical. Do you know why when people take, receive the mark of the beast they get a physical "grievous sore" on their skin / body as explained in the book of Revelation in the HOLY BIBLE ? It does not say in the HOLY BIBLE book of Revelation that people who worship on the day of Sunday will receive a "grievous sore" on their skin / body. The HOLY BIBLE says in the book of Revelation, "And they worshiped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshiped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him?" ~HOLY BIBLE, Revelation 13:4 Please share this HOLY BIBLE prophecy truth with people that have a love for the truth. Then also watch the video called 'THE SECRET OF OZ' by Bill Still. Then you will know what action we must take when organized ! Give me thoughts about the two videos after you watch them. I know what will completely get rid of the U.S.A. debt, but many of us have to demand this from the politicians (our public servants). If the politicians won't listen then the military has the right to defend the U.S.A. against "all threats, foreign and DOMESTIC" ! * Please watch the 2 videos I recommended to you first, then we will talk. ⚠Maybe we should STOP focusing so much on non-essential distractions and START focusing on who controls the money system.⚠ THE LOSS OF CONFIDENCE IN THE U.S.A. DOLLAR CAUSES VALUE LOSS IN THE U.S.A. DOLLAR ! People, please stop talking negative about the U.S.A. dollar. Yes, most of us agree that the dollar would be better if the privately owned Federal Reserve business would be replaced with Congress taking back their Constitutional right to print the dollar again as they did before the year 1913. * Please watch the video documentary called, 'THE MONEY MASTERS' by Bill Still. The U.S. dollar currency has value in most countries on this earth because modern day technology has made it almost impossible to counterfeit. Gold and Silver can be easily counterfeited ! It costs many thousands of dollars to own a machine that accurately tests Gold and Silver for counterfeits. * I personally own a little Gold and Silver as a novelty. By you and others criticizing the U.S.A. dollar pushes us faster towards a One World Order cashless digital currency money slavery system ! Please research past history from many hundreds of years ago on how Gold and Silver was made scarce by corrupt politicians. When Gold & Silver is made scarce it causes many, many problems. Send all the corrupt politicians that got the U.S.A in debt to communist China to have them pay off the debt in the China slave labor prisons ! * President Trump can create an Executive Order to wipe out the U.S.A. debt. Then allow Congress their Constitutional right to print non-debt based money again as they did before the year 1913. The words 'FEDERAL RESERVE NOTE' will then be replaced with the words 'UNITED STATES NOTE' back on our cash. If Congress does not do this soon we are going to be in a lot of trouble ! ! Why isn't the President taking action by implementing this ? I and many other American's are not afraid of the corrupt Federal Reserve bank. "We The People" are the government. The U.S. Constitution clearly explains this! The politicians are our public servants. WE SHOULD NEVER BE AFRAID TO FIGHT FOR THE TRUTH ! ! ! Watch the historical video documentary called 'THE SECRET OF OZ' by Bill Still. It explains that Gold and Silver have been made scarce by banks that resulted in depressions and many other serious problems. This fact has happened often in many countries. The evil elitist that manipulate the prices of Gold & Silver can make a new law that says you can't "buy or sell" with Gold, Silver or Cash. Their new form of "money" will be a computer chip in your "right hand or forehead" that can be scanned just like your bank debit cards at all stores. How many of you have 7 years of food stored up in your houses or in your apartments or on your property ? Why would anybody invest or put their trust in Gold & Silver that is manipulated by very evil people ? Question, how many of you will be willing to trade your guns and ammo in for food and medicines? How many are going to let themselves and their family members go hungry to the point of starvation by NOT accepting the new 666 "beast" money system ? How many of you will allow yourselves or family members suffer with an injury because you refuse to have the injury treated at your local walk-in clinic or hospital that only accepts a computer chip in the "right hand or forehead" ? "Shall the throne of iniquity have fellowship with thee, which frameth mischief by a law? I think what I like so much about Godspell is that even though it was made almost 50 years ago it still depicts the relationship that people can have with God in a very modern way. Biblical movies with an atmosphere of the biblical era make it a lot harder to understand because nobody in this time and day and age can really understand how people lived back then but the Godspell cast portrayed their characters in a way that made it much easier to relate to them

I remember, one Sunday, we filed into the church singing “Prepare Ye the Way of the Lord,” and it culminated into “Day by Day”. I had NEVER felt SO important...Or so close to God. The chords at "All the things we're dreaming of/Take my hand, I'll take you home" are so moving -- Ab, Ab(add 2)/G, Eb/F, F/Eb, Dbma7 (then they shift key up a step to Bb for the last verse and chorus)... and the answering harmonies on those same lines, especially in the last verse. I tingle and tear up. EVERY time. This whole score is just pure magic.

I keep coming back and watching it, as well. As a church choir director I've always had a thought about doing this at some point. But finding the music seemed impossible. This song wasn't in the original Broadway play, it was written for the movie. When the play was revived on Broadway it was re-written as a slower, almost ballad with words that reflected the George Floyd incident and what the country was going through. That's pretty much the only music you could find. Well, after a long, diligent search I was able to find a choral arrangement of the movie version. However, as you point out, it's not an easy accompaniment. Piano 3-hands - one just does the triplets through the whole thing.

This is indeed one of the most beautifully written songs I have ever heard in all of my lifetime ❤️ I have mixed emotions about it I mean it absolutely brings me joy and comfort and peace and love but it also bring a great deal of sorrow and sadness because when I first purchased this soundtrack some ten years ago my beloved and most endearing friend was Alive and doing very well working as a cosmetologist and security guard here in California but on a cold and wintery night I was playing this song on my stereo and also watching the evening news when suddenly my beloved friends face appeared on the screen she was found dead and wrapped in plastic I absolutely lost it I screamed at the top of my lungs totally in disbelief as I watched in horror but after I came to I realized that in this song there was a strong message to be found I believe it pertains to the New city , the New Jerusalem that's what I interpret where death sorrow and sadness will never ever be no more I sincerely hope and I pray that my dearest of friend is resting comfortably in the New city.

Never saw this movie, but the stations I listened to as a teen played Day By Day, which was a hit at the time, and this song because the music director played whatever he liked--and clearly he had good taste. Years later I sought out the single and it's been a favorite of mine ever since. Also, talking about Victor Garber, don't forget that he played Jennifer Garner's father on Alias. I remember when my grandpa introduced me to this movie as a kid even though I was born in the 90's, he had me watch this and literally the first thing I thought was "I hope one day I'm chosen to be with a group of people like this who can explore and embrace the world with no other living people for a day and sing and dance and rejoice about Jesus who sacrificed for our sins but to also realize how lucky we are to just live."

I absolutely love this original arrangement/rendition of "Beautiful City"! So positive, uplifting, and catchy. But I also like Stephen Schwartz' later, more introspective rearrangement/updated lyrics of the song, reflecting both the anxiety and hopeful desires of a troubled society. In the light of the LA riots of the 90s, and later, of course, the mass tragedy of 9/11, it evokes a different sense of perspective... but still the persistent hope of a new, better world. I have a definite preference for the original, but I consider both to be beautiful, in different ways.

The newer one is definitely better and works more with the show thematically but I do like the more lighthearted one. The new one is Jesus trying to bridge the lighthearted gap from We Beseech Thee to "one of you will betray me tonight," he's trying to give them one last happy day, but it's also him saying "The darkness is still there." The new one is saying "We're not perfect, but that's okay as long as we always strive to be better." The old one just says "Who cares what anyone else thinks, I'm just here with you and that's all that matters." The new lyrics are all but perfect, and it always will be the best song in this show by far, but this version is absolutely amazing too.

I was in this play when I was in Junior High. We used both the Broadway cast LP as well as the movie soundtrack. This song, from the film only, was by far my favorite. It's also the only song I remember rehearsing and performing in the play -- all the rest is a blur. Well, it WAS 40-some-odd years ago! Much later, when I performed at a club, I lip-synced with a dance partner the song "All for the Best" from this same soundtrack. Imagine a pitch-dark stage with strobes flashing during the song's interlude while we used our hats and canes. Given that the club performance was, hmm, 25 years ago, the strobe part of our dance is the only part I remember. Oh, and I remember having to learn to fake tap-dance (or was it a shuffle) for the number. I have the DVD or Blu-ray of this movie, but I haven't watched it yet. I wonder, is the movie in stereo? Wasn't the music on the soundtrack album in stereo?

@@arladicey yes, more than likely they laid track. But they also may have opted for "sticks", and simply shot a 360 (the actors circling the camera in a fixed position). Can you comprehend the love he has for you, by taking on your sin and dying for them all, so we can have eternal life with him in Heaven. You have this life to choose him. He IS THE WAY, and the Bible makes it clear, Jesus is the ONLY WAY. Who could deny the One person/God, who could remove your sin. (Your past, present, and future sin.) He came, with love and sacrifice to save sinners....we are all sinners. He paid the debt by dying on the cross so you would not have to. 💕💕💕 He rose again 3 days later and appeared to many. This is the amazing and true story of Jesus. May you have ears to hear, before you die. Call on Him. He adores you. 💕🙏

The new lyrics are certainly more powerful and better but I do like the lighthearted joy of this one. The new lyrics let the song say "We're not perfect but we can always strive to be and that's enough," while these lyrics say "I don't care whether or not I'm perfect, I just care that I'm here with you." This one is the perfect match to Judas's On The Willows, while the new lyrics are the perfect match to the violence and the somber outrage of the Finale. Fitting, then, that in the revival's finale, it incorporates this song into it** **For those not entirely familiar with what I mean, at the end of the finale, in the original version, it ends with a harmony of two groups, one singing Prepare Ye and one singing "Long live god" over and over. But in the revival, there are three groups, the two previously mentioned, and a third group singing the second verse and chorus to this song, with the entire cast joining in on "Not a city of angels, but we can build a city of man," before launching into a final chorus where they're in full tempo and volume. That second verse is sung on its own for a brief section, and it's just so perfect. "We may not reach the ending. But we can start. Slowly but truly mending, brick by brick, heart by heart. Now, maybe now, we start learning how... we can build a beautiful city (etc.)"
