Great song. I couldn't agree more with this reaction. I feel like a lot of U2's work does an absolutely spectacular job of bringing Irish folk flavor to chart topping, cutting edge, contemporary pop-rock. People thought "Ireland? Leprechauns and four leaf clovers? Lucky charms, 'clean as a whistle' and wearing green on St. Pati's day? /eyeroll" Then Boom! U2, The Cranberries, Sinead O'Conner... Rick Beato does some interesting analysis of a number of U2 songs in his "What Makes This Song Great" series.

Awesome you're reacting to U2. Good stuff! You got U2 at the "mid level" of their legendary career. Check out earlier songs like "With or With out you", "I still haven't found what I'm looking for", "Pride", but if you wanna go "deeper cut but still popular": U2's "Bad" Live Aid.
