I'm married to an Ethiopian woman. Just like with any inter cultural relationship both sides are going to have to learn about each other's culture. And both sides will have to figure out where they can compromise in order to make the relationship work. I can't speak for all black American men who married an Ethiopian woman, but for me I needed someone my mother, sisters, and family in general respected. My family didn't like most women I dated (regardless if they were black American or white American). However; my mom, and sisters gave the ok for the Ethiopian woman I end up marrying. Also most of my childhood friends, and college friends approved of her as well. People at my church liked her as well, and so I married her, and we've been married for 9 years now. My advice is this: respect her culture, and religion, and try to learn her language, and be a provider. A go getter! Everything else will fall in place after that.
