I was born and raised in Madison Indiana. It is the same in many ways as it was in the 1960's, however, much has changed. The downtown area used to house dress shops, shoe stores, drug stores and other traditional small town retail establishments. Most are long ago closed. They have been replaced by some antique and curio shops mostly catering to tourists. Things change, but not always for the best. At least I have fond memories of going along with my mother shopping downtown on a busy Friday evening in the old days.

I was born and raised in Madison. 48 years. Love it here. I also have a youtube channel. I enjoyed your video of Madison. Sometimes I wish we were closer to a big city because we have to go out of town or order online for anything beyond the basics. There are no specialty stores like hobby stores. You can't even find a fish store in Madison anymore, but if you want antiques we have it. Thanks for your review. I'll share it to my friends.

The lady in the black and white sweater who said she's from Madison, is Julie Berry, who was an elected official in our town for a number of years. She worked with me at The Madison Courier newspaper one summer, and is a very good friend.

Wow I was Born at Kings Daughters Hospital in 75 and lived in the Vevay area. Many special memories in Madison . The Clifty Park is awesome. Remember washing cars at the waterfall, Watching the regatta from family backyards on the river , and the Steamboats and Barges. I could sit and watch the river traffic for hours

I watched your Seymour video and happen to see this one. I was born in Madison in 1952 and raised in Seymour where I still live. My grandparents owned the Pine Lodge Motel in Madison and we would come to visit once or twice a month. I have many good memories of those times.

Wayne, my parents built the Englewood Tourist Court on what was then Highway 29, in 1949, and owned and operated it for 10 years. Were your grandparents named Brooks? I remember my dad mentioning a Mr. Brooks as owner of the Pine Lodge one time when I was a kid.

Understood Jukeboxfun. Probably no different than any other small town story...you do what you have to do to survive. And thank God for tourists who see the beauty in Madison. What’s wonderful about Madison is that the city understands how important its history is...hence the well-preserved historical buildings that line the streets. The place still has so much personality and character. Thanks for your thoughts...

That town looks really cool. I have a thing for small towns with an old school feel to them. Would love to visit someday, especially during the fall season. The scenery and vibes of the town must be really nice then.

Madison is a hidden gemstone. You have to visit the 50'th CHAUTAUQUA festival on September 25 and 26, 2021. Over 22 food booths, 250 exhibitors from across the country, 6 stages with music, beer, wine, kids area. One area is for high end exhibits. People from across the country come, some to show and sell, many others to buy or just look around. Madison also has the Madison Regatta every year on July 1'st. - 4'th.which includes speed boat racing on the river, and lot's of beer. This is a party atmosphere, some say too much, it's been going for year's and draws huge crowd's. You also have to pay admission. There are numerous event's held thru out the year. You can look up the city website to find out more. Madison Indiana is the most beautiful town in Southern Indiana, hands down. The architecture is just beautiful, the town has so much character. Plenty of good places to eat. A good lunch spot for an old time hamburger is Hinkle's. Enjoy the memories.

Madison is not only one of the nicest small towns in Indiana, but one of the nicest in all of America...just so much personality, character and charm. The historical, well-maintained buildings are off-the-charts amazing. I did get to the Soup Stew and Brew bash last year; that was a lot of fun. Thanks for watching John...
